Israel Adesanya surprised MMA ‘GOAT’ isn’t in UFC Hall of Fame seven years after release

One UFC legend still has to be immersed.

This summer we saw various stars included in the UFC Hall of Fame: WMMA 'Goat' Amanda Nunes, Robbie Lawler, Vitor Belfort and Mark Kerr.

Former enemies Israel Adesanya and Kelvin Gastelum were also included in the Vecht wing for their 'Fight of the Year' 2018 from UFC 236.

Adesanya could not believe he made it 35 in the UFC Hall of Fame. The former double champion is also surprised that there is a big one that he is not with him there, after everything he did for the sport.

Israël Adesanya says that the UFC will drive 'better' Demetrious Johnson to Hall of Fame

Retired UFC champion Demetrious Johnson, the largest flying weight of all time, still has to be initiated at the UFC Hall of Fame.

'Mighty Mouse' has the record for the most consecutive title defenses in the UFC history (11), an achievement that may never be broken. A model champion, Johnson ruled for years as the pound-for-pound king of the UFC.

Johnson left the UFC in 2018 when he was traded to one championship for Ben Askren.

Johnson officially retired last year with a pro-record of 25-4-1, running away from the sport as perhaps the greatest MMA hunter of all time.

“I recently found out that you are not in the UFC Hall of Fame,” Adesanya told Johnson on Young Man Ramble.

“You can be better …

'They can be better [inducting you]. The goat, “Adesanya said about Johnson.

“Who did I speak to?

“Especially because you now love the UFC for how long?” Said Adesanya.

Seven years have passed since Johnson's last UFC fight against Henry Cejudo on UFC 227.

'But even me, I am like … when I saw for the first time [my induction]I had something like that, I am too young to be in the Hall of Fame. But for this fight I had something like that, I'll take it. Because it was and Kelvin and it was a Banger F— – fight, “said Adesanya.

“I think you should be in the Hall of Fame, not a bar,” Adesanya told Johnson.

Demetrious Johnson on if UFC invites him to Hall of Fame

How would Demetrious Johnson think about entering the UFC Hall of Fame?

It has been years since Johnson attended a UFC event and the former champion has not always seen face to face with UFC boss Dana White, who once told him that he was not the best hunter of the UFC.

Yet it is impossible to deny what Johnson did for the UFC and the sport as a whole, especially the lighter weight classes.

“If they do the invitation, I will probably accept it,” said the 39-year-old about a potential induction to the UFC Hall of Fame.

“I would like to be in the UFC Hall of Fame, because that is what the sport has brought from mixed martial arts to the next level. There has been no other company to be able to do it,” Johnson said about the UFC.
