‘It adds towards success’ – Why Arne Slot believes COFFEE is fuelling Liverpool’s Premier League title bid

Liverpool's Premier League title offer is fed by daily coffee shopchats.

The Kopuccino Kings of Arne Slot – who have had the beans of the table since November – built a coffee bar for the players in their Kirkby training center.

This is where they can meet, eat and sink some caffeine when they don't roast opponents on the field.

The basis of championship winning sides are built on strong bonds in the dressing room.

In the 1980s and 90 players would go to the pub to socialize, but nowadays modern ultra professionals will meet as a group about a cuppa.

Liverpool Manager Slot said: “They have always had breakfast together. What has changed, and what you see a lot is that we have made a coffee bar here.

“Players sit there, talk to each other, have a lot of fun together.

“If you have a coffee bar and you have no results, you probably don't see the same atmosphere there. But I think it all adds to success.

“I believe you should have a good training area. You must have a good program.

“You must have absolutely good people. I took a few people to this club that I think they are doing very well and are good people. But those who have already worked here are also great professionals and great people.

“Add that to a great facility, great players and a great mentality, then that can lead to a successful period.”

Normally so cool and calm, Slot was surprisingly furious by the wild celebrations of Everton after the 2-2 draw with Liverpool in the last Merseyside Derby on Goodison on Wednesday.

After the game, Slot was sent away and was confronted with a possible ban after he was sued by the FA with abuse of ref Michael Oliver and his assistant.

Slot has refused to apologize, but accepts that he would have acted differently with the benefit benefit.

The Dutchman, 46, said: “In general or 99 percent of the time I can deal with my emotions quite well.

“But yes, it is clear that during the game I could not handle my emotions well enough.

“Especially after the game. That all had to do with how the deliberate five minutes were eight extra minutes.

“Emotions took over after these seven or eight minutes, of which I don't think it will ever be the same in terms of all the games that I will play as a manager.

“But still, if, if, if it happens the next time, I should act differently. That is completely clear.

“I saw players dealing much better than last season. I mean mentally. That is the biggest victory and profit that we could have achieved from this game.

“That gives us a lot of confidence for the next 14 games.

“Because we already knew that in terms of playing football, we are pretty good at that.”

Before he host Wolves on Anfield today, Liverpool's lead was cut to four points after the 2-0 victory of Arsenal in Leicester.

The Reds are on the longest current undefeated run in League Football – 20 games – while haunting a second Prem Crown, although they drew the FA Cup to Championship Side Plymouth.

Slot added: “In general, the second half of the season is more difficult for everyone because teams get closer to De Lijn.

“So they may be more difficult to stay up for Europe or League position.”
