‘It all makes sense’… Jake Paul reacts as Conor McGregor claims he has agreed to Logan Paul fight

Jake Paul has backed his brother to comfortably beat Conor McGregor after the UFC legend dropped a bombshell this morning.

McGregor told fans on social media that he was in talks to fight Logan Paul in a boxing match before returning to the UFC. The fight, which he said he agreed to, would take place in India and would be financed by the billionaire Ambani family.

Since making their debut in the boxing ring, Logan and Jake Paul have both been pursuing a fight against McGregor. Last year, the older sibling won every round en route to a six-round DQ victory over the Irishman's good friend Dillon Danis.

Conor McGregor announces plan to fight Logan Paul in India

This morning, during a lengthy tweeting session, Conor McGregor dropped the news that he plans to return to the boxing ring against Logan Paul. He has not competed as a professional in the sport since facing Floyd Mayweather in 2017, but continues to train regularly.

Before the coronavirus lockdowns, there had been talks of a clash with Manny Pacquiao, and he has also taken part in a number of surprise exhibitions at the Crumlin Boxing Club's annual events. And most recent reports claimed he could face UFC featherweight champion Ilia Topuria in a superfight.

However, he dampened those rumors by writing on X in a viral tweet: “The rumors of a fight with Topuria are false. I have made tentative arrangements with the Ambani family to meet Logan Paul at a boxing exhibition in India. I agreed. I will then seek my return to the Octagon.”

Conor McGregor's UFC contract status is in doubt following the announcement of the Logan Paul fight

McGregor is known to have a lucrative contract with the UFC and would need the promotion's approval for a crossover fight. He got that in 2017, but the circumstances surrounding the Mayweather fight were very different.

At the time, he had just fought four times in eleven months, winning two world titles and breaking pay-per-view and gate records with each subsequent appearance. He is currently out of action for almost four years, pulling out of his planned return to the octagon against Michael Chandler at UFC 303 in June.

It is believed he has two fights left under his current deal, with the first expected to take place late next year. There is also the matter of his ownership stake in BKFC, where he has been a key factor in the recent promotion.

However, his claims may have some credibility given Paul's close ties to the UFC. While Jake Paul and Dana White have a bitter feud, Logan's liquor company Prime is a major sponsor of the promotion and is regularly seen hanging out with White.

Jake Paul reacts to Logan Paul vs. Conor McGregor news

While Logan has remained quiet on social media since the announcement, his brother Jake has now issued a lengthy statement. In typical fashion for the siblings, he has claimed that initial talks were for him to face McGregor.

However, he claims his team wanted to negotiate directly with Dana White and the UFC rather than McGregor's own personal team. He also backed his brother to beat McGregor any way he sees fit, calling the former two-weight world champion 'washed'.

“Now it all makes sense why Conor McGregor and his management team have been desperately trying to get MVP to negotiate a fight between us,” he wrote on X to his 4.7 million followers tonight.

“As we told them privately and I'm saying it publicly now… The only way we want to explore me versus Conor in a pro boxing/MMA fight is if Dana White/UFC is right at the table or makes it clear they are okay with discussions. Conor is being washed. Needs the Paul. Logan does it the way he wants.”
