‘It did not match the occasion’ – Tuchel laments England attitude

Thomas Tuchel was disappointed about the attitude of England in the last 20 minutes of their victory over Andorra, and claimed that it “did not match the occasion”.

Harry Kane scored his 450th senior career goal in all competitions for Club and Country, and his 50th minute strike helped England to a 1-0 win in Barcelona.

Despite an overwhelming display, it made the German the first manager who won each of his first three competitive competitions responsible for England without giving up.

In general, Tuchel is the fifth three Lions boss who wins his first three games, after Glenn Hoddle, Sven-Goran Eriksson (first five), Ron Greenwood (first six) and Fabio Capello (first eight).

England dominated everywhere, with 20 shots (10 on goal) when they gathered 3.4 expected goals (XG), but Tuchel was less than impressed by what he saw.

“I am not happy with the performance. I think we started well in the first 20 or 25 minutes,” he said ITV.

“We have created many opportunities and half chances, and we completely lost the momentum and could not get it back in the first half. Got a bit in the second half, but then finished in a place that was not good enough in terms of urgency.

“We can just admit that it is not what we expect from us. We have to look at it in detail and do better on Tuesday.

“I was most concerned in the last 20 minutes because I didn't like the attitude we had ended with the game. I didn't like the lack of urgency and it didn't match the occasion.

“It is still a world cup qualification. We will let them know tomorrow what we want from them.”

In contrast to Tuchel, Morgan Rogers found the positive points from their performance, because England eventually succeeded in finding a way through the in -depth defense of Andorra.

“These games are always difficult, the way teams are set up to try to stop our threats,” he told BBC Radio 5 Live.

“We have done the job. We have won the game, what the goal is. We would like more goals. But there are still positives to take. We know that we have to improve and keep ourselves responsible.

“The manager tries to convey his ideas to the players. We try to learn and improve. We have had a tough training week. We still have a game to try to show what we are about. [It’s] Just the start. We have different ideas and a different identity for how we want to play. “

England remains top of group K after collecting nine points of nine in their first three games. They compete against Senegal in an international friendship on Tuesday.
