On an episode of This Past Weekend, Poirier explained: “Losing sucks, especially when you work so hard. Fighting involves everything. I really put myself into this.”
This prompted his friend to reminisce: “I remember sitting in your green room. It felt strangely like we were at a funeral, but you were there.”
Poirier responded: “I told everyone in there, 'This is not a funeral.'” This got a huge laugh from Von, who used his stand-up comedy experience to clarify the situation.
He chuckled, “You go around trying to boost people's spirits.”
Poirier chuckled, “You put on a black suit; I don't even know where you got it.”
The comic then broke into song and demanded that everyone in the room deliver an awe-inspiring rendition of Chester DT Baldwin's “I Still Hear Mama Praying.”
The fighter then claimed: “Someone stood up and said, 'He was a good man'. I'm here, brother.'
UFC star claims he would submit Dustin Poirier
After losing to Gaethje, the warrior showed his fighting spirit and bounced back in a big way with a win over Benoit Saint Denis.
This earned the American a shot at Islam Makhachev for lightweight gold. Unfortunately, despite an incredible effort, he eventually succumbed to the Russian's sublime wrestling, losing by submission.
When analyzing the fight, a ranked 155-pounder claimed he would also beat the popular fighter.
