‘It would be magical to win it’ – Trossard insists Arsenal capable of UCL glory

Leandro Trossard believes Arsenal have the quality to win the Champions League and says it would be “magical” if they do so.

The Gunners are fifth in the table after six games, as one of seven teams with 13 points.

Mikel Arteta's side increased their chances of automatic qualification for the round of 16 with victory over Dinamo Zagreb on Wednesday.

And Trossard is confident that the team can go all the way.

'I think that's what you dream about as a child [winning the Champions League]”, he told TNT Sports before the match at the Emirates Stadium.

“I think the Champions League is one of the biggest competitions there is, maybe the biggest, and it would be magical to win it.

“It's such a tough competition, but I think and believe that we can do that with this squad and this team.”

Should he play against Dinamo, Trossard will make his 100th appearance for Arsenal since joining from Brighton in January 2023, and the Belgium international is delighted to have reached this milestone.

“I'm very happy, it's a great moment and I'm happy to be here already [on 100 appearances]” he said.

“To be part of such a great club and such a good team. All the individuals here are such good people too, and I love being here.

“We have such a good atmosphere. If you don't win games, it is of course different. But even then everyone tries to help each other and lighten the mood.”

The Gunners return to the Premier League against struggling Wolves and will look to close the six-point gap on leaders Liverpool, who have a game in hand.

Mikel Arteta's side, who endured a difficult end to 2024, won 16 of their last 18 league games last season and Trossard has urged his teammates to repeat the form this time around.

“To win every game, that has to be our mentality,” he said when asked what he wanted to see from the team in the next four months.

“It's obviously the most difficult thing in football, but we did it last year too, when I think we had a difficult period in December. After the end of January we won almost every game, and I think we are capable of doing that .” also.

“Okay, we had the injuries, but I think a lot has been done mentally and mentally as well. We just have to keep believing.”
