Bologna head coach Vincenzo Italiano is prepared for an “emotional” Coppa Italia final against AC Milan while he wants to create history on Wednesday.
This will be the second Coppa Italia final of Bologna, who previously reached the final against Palermo in 1974, when they gained the title on penalties after a 1-1 draw in extra time.
Since then, the Club Series B has won twice and series C, with their upcoming meeting in the Stadio Olimpico the largest in the recent history of Bologna.
Bologna scored 10 goals in the Coppa Italia this season, while the last edition of the tournament in which they scored more goals was in 1997-98 (11).
But the Italiano team comes in the final without a victory in their last three games (D2 L1), with their last defeat against Milan in the Serie A last weekend.
“We have a lot of enthusiasm, which is what we have accompanied on this cup trip,” said Italiano via TMW by his side opportunities to lift the trophy.
“The Dall'ara was packed for the semi -final of the second leg, and we will have many people who support us in the final. We will try to play a great game.
“After 51 years, Bologna will play such an important game again. We will try to take another step in the direction of history.
“We know that we are being confronted with a team full of champions, but we want to play our opportunities.”

This will be the 15th meeting between the two teams in the Coppa Italia. The Rossoneri Lead with six wins to the four of Bologna, while four games have ended in a draw.
After won the Supercoppa Italiana, Milan wants to win two trophies in one season for the first time since 2007-08, when they won the Super Cup and Club World Cup.
Italiano added that their competition -the defeat against Milan was a valuable lesson, giving the team the opportunity to learn and to ensure that they do not repeat the same mistakes in the final.
“Milan has already lifted a trophy this season, Bologna has not done it for many years,” said Italiano.
“Every game starts from zero and we should not forget on Friday, when we are eliminated for 15 minutes.
“We have to play freely, airy, with joy and no regrets. We will try to be ready.”
This will not be the first Coppa Italia final of Italiano, which Fiorentina led there in 2023, but they were beaten 2-1 by Inter.
However, this fixture is connected with more emotion, with Bologna without a great honor since their last Coppa Italia Success 51 years ago.
“It will be emotional. After so many years we have succeeded in an important match for an entire city,” said Italiano.
“You can feel that there is great expectation for the competition in the city.
“As soon as the referee blows the whistle, we have to think about the 30,000 Rossoblu animals, which will be just as hungry as we try to bring this trophy home.
“I'm sorry they can't be on the field with us.”
