‘It’s been a long time coming’ – Kane savours success of first title

Harry Kane said it felt sweet to finally end his career-long trophy-dried after Bayern Munich sealed the Bundesliga title in his second season in the club.

Bayern was crowned top champions for the 34th time on Sunday after Bayer Leverkusen could only draw with Freiburg.

Kane missed the 3-3 draw of his team with RB Leipzig 24 hours earlier through suspension, but this year enjoyed a good season under Vincent Kompany.

The captain of England has scored 24 goals in 29 league matches and is the top scorer of the Bundesliga, five free from the second place Patrik Schick.

He also broke a competition record with his goal against Heidenheim and became the fastest player to reach 60 goals at the top of the top, and did this in just 60 games.

Kane could also become the first player in the history of Bundesliga who is the top scorer of the division in the first two seasons in Germany.

“What a night last night, what a party with the players, with the staff. I'm sure everyone feels a bit this morning, but we're here,” said Kane in a video on Monday.

“I feel great, it is a long time ago, of course a lot of hard work, a lot of dedication, and it just feels sweet to win the title, the first of my career.

“I appreciate all the support. As always, it will never go unnoticed and I can't wait to enjoy these coming weeks.

“I can't wait to be in the Allianz Arena on Saturday and celebrate for the fans.

“And then, as always, we look forward to the next one, and we go again and try to get number two.”
