‘It’s just soundbites’ – Keane slams B.Fernandes over ‘meaningless’ interview

Roy Keane closed Bruno Fernandes about a “pointless” interview after the 4-1 defeat of Manchester United in Newcastle.

The Red Devils were torn apart on Sunday by their opponents in St James' Park.

Altay Bayindir had a Nightmare Premier League debut and gave Newcastle their fourth goal with an absolute Howler.

But United was the second best in all areas of the field when the defeat left them 14th in the table.

And now thoughts turn to the Crunch Europa League collision on Thursday against Lyon, which yielded a late equalizer last week thanks to Clanger of Andre Onana.

Speaking after the game, Fernandes insisted that United could do better and promised to make up for the next game.

He said, “My teammates – I only get frustrated by them because I know how good they can be.”

“I know how difficult it is to represent this club. They want to give so much to the club, to win because they know how much they will be reminded if they win something with this club.

“On Thursday we continue, we create a big atmosphere in our stadium, we have to be on the front foot and give everything we have because we want to come to the semi -final.

“At difficult moments we did great versions against the biggest clubs.

“In decisive games when everyone watches. We are husband United, we have to perform and do everything to win the game.”

But this did not go well with Keane, who accused Fernandes of producing “sound bites” while hiding the real problems of the day.

Keane said: “Bruno does in the front, but it's just sound bites now.

“There is no meaning about it. I don't know how we can listen to the interviews of the United Players because I am not sure if they are a fair group.

“He keeps talking about having faith in his teammates, but real good teammates set demands on each other. These are not teammates, they are bluffers.

“If I listen to Bruno, great player, I still have questions about his leadership. He certainly doesn't get any help around him.

“Newcastle was excellent. I think United is now physically and mentally a weak team.

“Ruben Amorim scratches his head. I bet he can't believe how bad this man of Man United is.”

Fans responded online to Keane's latest criticism of Fernandes.

One said, “I am not impressed either.”

Another stated: “Whatever Fernandes does, it will never be good enough for Keane.”

It was noted: “Do not take knowledge of Bruno.”

Another added: “Absolute joke.”
