Manchester United chases Red Bull Leipzig -striker Benjamin Sesko, who once got a 'better player' than Erling Haaland by a former coach
Benjamin Sesko was once praised as a better player than the Erling Haaland of Manchester City by a coach who has worked with both stars. The search from Manchester United for a new striker seems to have led them to the star of Red Bull Leipzig, Sesko, although they have not excluded a movement for Ollie Watkins from Aston Villa.
Sesko, 22, has an impressive record of 39 goals in 87 performances for Leipzig and has attracted the attention of various top flights of English clubs. United is now ready to make their move for the much admired striker, but are confronted with a struggle for his signature with Newcastle.
Former Red Bull Salzburg coach Rene Aufhauser once shared his conviction that Sesko could even surpass Haaland in terms of potential. Haaland, now 25, had a stint in Salzburg from 2019 to 2020, while Sesko played for the Austrian side between 2020-2023.
“Benjamin is perhaps the better football player, better to play with the team, perhaps technically better at the same age,” Rene Aufhauser told the post in 2022, when Sesko was only 19. “His natural movements are so good, it is 6ft 4 long, fast and has a very good physical capacity.
“He is so smooth with the ball, a very good technique, good finish and it jumps so high. Very, very good with the head. It is incredible.
“Erling [Haaland] Was mentally a monster and (mentally) better at the same age, “Aufhauser continued.” This is the last five, 10 percent that Benji should get. “
Although Sesko is younger, it is true that Haaland against 22 – the current age of the Slovenian had scored his big move to the city, where he won the Premier League in his first season with the citizens. He has consistently been the most feared frontman of the competition since he collaborated with Pep Guardiola, winning two TopFlight titles and the Champions League.
Although Sesko has remains a road of Haaland's figures in recent years, he still contributed to 18 goals for Leipzig last season, while the club in the Bundesliga staggered, which ultimately did not qualify for the Champions League, the Manchester Even News reports. “He needs experience at this level and maybe also to learn how to deal with disappointment,” he said in 2022. “Sometimes he wants to be perfect. He has to stay cool, stay calm and wait for his next chance. This is perhaps the biggest thing he has to learn.”
Quickly three years, armed with three Austrian Bundesliga titles and a goals that many of Europe's top strikers would make jealous, it seems that Sesko might just be ready to make the leap to United – potentially challenging HAAREAND as one of the most frightening attackers in England.
