Jack Grealishe stopped his tears in an emotional tribute to his brother Keelan, who died 25 years ago.
Grealish, 29, scored his first Premier League goal since December 16, 2023, while Man City Leicester beat 2-0 on Wednesday evening -scored on a memorable date for the winger and his family.
Grealish and his family lost his brother Keelan on April 2, 2000 – so it was appropriate that the 39 -turner England International would end his goal drought on the 25th anniversary of his death.
The Grealish born in Birmingham could not help it, but become emotional when he spoke to the media about his performance and what it meant to score it on such an important evening.
Sticked in and said: “I felt that I deserved to play tonight and I was just happy. It was a nice day because my little brother died 25 years ago today.
“So this day is always difficult in the family. My mother and dad were here and I think this day is always difficult in the family, so to score and win is brilliant.”
Grealisk also went to social media to also pay tribute to Keelan, where he placed a photo of his party and one of his baby's grave.
He wrote next to the upload: “Always with me, especially this day. That was for you throat”.
While his comments were flooded with support messages of teammates and colleague -for example, such as Morgan Rogers, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Jacob Ramsey and John Terry.
Keelan was only nine months old when he died of Cot -Dood when Jack was four.
It is not the first time that Grealisk has paid tribute to his brother, and this did when he scored his first senior goal while he was on loan in the Notts County in the 2013/14 season.
As in November 2018 while playing for Aston Villa, that time devotes his goal to his brother or sister in a 4-2 victory over Birmingham City.
After that match, the triple Premier League champion became the target of a sick troll that taunts him about the death of Keelan.
The troll – Alfie Perkins – was fined later after he was convicted of sending attacking communication.
Jack's father Kevin has also spoken about the trauma of the death of Keelan.
He said: “He was only nine months old, he was a little angel and I was devastated. We were all that.
“Jack was just a child at the time, but he still remembers Keelan and he still thinks of him with everything he achieves.
“We still miss Keelan and still think of him – you never come about losing a child – but we are so grateful and happy that we are blessed with Jack, his brother Kevan and his little sisters Holly and Kiera.”
Grealisk welcomed his own child for the first time in October and became a father after partner Sasha Attwood had given birth to their baby girl Mila.
The £ 100 million men said that 2024 was “the most difficult year of his life” in February after his struggle on the field with Man City.
But his goal against Leicester has put an end to a stint of 473 days without a competition objective.
His guided finish opened the score for Man City before Omar Marmoush doubled the lead for Pep Guardiola for the break.
