A man was arrested and charged after he attacked Jack Grealish at the end of the Manchester Derby on Sunday in Old Trafford.
The Midfielder of Manchester City ran from the field to the players' tunnel when the alleged incident took place, according to the Daily Mail, which led to a police investigation.
Both Manchester clubs refused to comment when it was contacted by the PA -press agency, referring to the live investigation, although it is understood that United cooperates with police questions.
A statement from the Greater Manchester police said Monday: “Alfie Holt of Haven Drive, Droysleden, is accused of abuse. He will appear at Manchester Magistrates Court in July.
“This indictment relates to an incident that took place in Old Trafford yesterday.”
Grealisk stood up in the 74th minute of the scoreless draw at United when City missed the chance to return to the top four.
His colleague midfielder Phil Foden was the subject of vulgar crowd of songs about his mother during the first half, who pulled a strong reprimand from city boss Pep Guardiola at the end of the game.
“The chants for him? Lack of class. But it's not united, it's people,” said Guardiola.
“We are so exposed, the people who are now on the screen in world football – managers, owners and football players, especially.
“To be honest, I don't understand the spirit of the people, involving Phil's mother who is involved.
“It is a lack of integrity, class – and they must be ashamed. But it is what it is, it happens everywhere I would say, not just in the UK, everywhere.”
