Jack Wilshere is said to be set to leave Norwich after the club has decided not to consider their current interim manager for the permanent job.
The former midfielder of Arsenal has been in charge of Carrow Road since Johannes Hoff Thorup was fired.
Wilshere supervised the last two games of the season when Norwich ended the campaign in the 13th.
With Norwich who decides to look for an external candidate to permanently take over as a manager, Wilshere has decided to leave the club according to athletics.
“He is a great coach and he will be a fantastic head coach, but that will not be here at this specific moment,” Norwich Sporting Director Ben told the BBC.
“Our search is externally focused.”
Wilshere came to Norwich from Arsenal last October as the first team coach. He had previously served as the U18S head coach of the Gunners.
During his two games, Wilshere Norwich led to a scoreless draw with Middlesbrough and a 4-2 victory over Cardiff.
His old Arsenal teammate, Aaron Ramsey, was in the opposite Dugout against the Welsh side and served in his own interim role.
Knier said that the decision not to turn to Wilshere was to prevent him from being wrapped in emotion. “
“He is a great coach and will be a fantastic head coach, but that will not be here at this specific moment,” said Knapper.
“Of course he is disappointed. He is super ambitious, and he should be, but for where we are now and the context, we focus externally.
“The emotional part, the romantic part of mine, would like to make that decision, but my job is not to be packed in emotion and to make cool, objective decisions.”
In his match days, Wilshere played more than 150 times for Arsenal while earning 34 caps for England.
At the retirement in 2022, the midfielder joined a coaching capacity in their youth structure.
