Jake Paul and KSI unite to mock YouTube star’s own brother after farcical KO win in Misfits Boxing return

KSI and Jake Paul don't agree on much, but it seems like one thing they do agree on is the British brother's fight last night.

Deji, who is a huge YouTube star himself, takes on Dawood Savage in a farcical effort on last night's Misfits Boxing card in Qatar. He pulled off one of the most bizarre stoppages you'll see in boxing this year, but was overall flattered to deceive his winless rival.

The social media star arguably lost the first two rounds of his match with Savage in a fight that had to be changed to exhibition rules when he outweighed his rival by almost 10 pounds. His method win didn't help either, as Savage appeared to quit without being hit with anything substantial.

Deji defeats Dawood Savage in a bizarre comeback fight

On Thursday night, popular YouTuber Deji made his return to the ring after more than a year out of action. He had spent the first part of the year undergoing a body transformation bet with his brother KSI, but it seemed like he was gaining some serious weight in the aftermath of the challenge.

He ultimately finished a whopping 9 pounds heavier than his rival Dawood Savage, who is infamous for being one of the worst fighters in the celebrity boxing scene. The Emirati influencer had lost his five previous ring attempts by knockout, with many viewing the fight as merely a prelude to the Brit.

The fight got off to a bad start for Deji, who was under pressure from Savage and couldn't land any of his big power shots. With Misfits champion Anthony Taylor in the corner, the Emirates employed a suffocating and irritating style, which clearly frustrated the Brit and perhaps even won rounds.

However, it all came to an end in the third when Deji missed an uppercut and his follow-up hook didn't seem to land quite cleanly, but still managed to get Savage to the ground. The referee refused to call it a knockdown and forced the pair to counter quickly.

Savage was taunting Deji when they came into a clinch, but after little more than an aggressive break from the draw, the underdog flopped to the floor as if he had been knocked out. The referee waved off the match and declared Deji the winner.

The fight caused major controversy online, with many fans laughing at the farcical stoppage. Savage appeared to claim he was injured after the fight and explained his decision.

KSI and Jake Paul are among the critics while Deji promises to make changes in boxing career

Deji's brother KSI was ringside for the fight in a dual role of promoter and commentator for the fight. He seemed to believe the first knockdown should have been scored, but was completely baffled as to what caused the finish during his commentary.

After the fight, Deji was mercilessly targeted online for his performance and his form heading into the fight. There had been questions about his level as an opponent, and anything less than dominance would have been questioned by fans.

But two unlikely allies were found in the criticism of Deji's performance as both Jake Paul and KSI joined the pile. Paul and KSI are arch enemies after a six-year collision course towards a seemingly unfeasible fight, but they were both critical of the display.

Deji shared a photo on Instagram afterwards, in which he apologized for his performance and promised to take the sport more seriously in the future. “Today was a wake-up call to start taking boxing more seriously,” he wrote. “Even though I won, I'm not happy with my performance! I will be back, and better than ever.”

However, in a now-deleted story post, KSI was not convinced. He shared the photo with his own caption: “Bro says this every time, we're bored right now.” He has since reshared it with a less aggressive caption that reads: “It's time to fight better opponents. No more warm-up fights.”

And Jake Paul wasn't far behind in sending his own cheeky message. Instagram news source TheBreadBatch reposted Deji's caption, and Paul took to the comments section and replied, “We don't care.”

Jake Paul and Deji fought in each other's boxing debut

There's a history between Jake Paul and Deji, dating back to when the pair fought in the summer of 2018. Paul won by stoppage after an intense months-long build-up to their fight debut, but he got an early scare when he got his nose bloodied by the British.

It seemed the pair were on friendly terms afterwards, as Deji Event traveled to Saudi Arabia to watch Paul fight Tommy Fury. They took a photo backstage as the YouTubers appeared to have resolved their differences, as did their older brothers KSI and Logan Paul.

But in October last year, Deji insisted he would beat Paul in a rematch if they fought now, sparking a back-and-forth between the pair. They both appeared on the pre-show for the Prime Card, where their brothers fought Tommy Fury and Dillon Danis respectively.

“I already beat you and you don't know anything about boxing,” Paul said to Deji, who replied: “I was your toughest fight so far, I bloodied your face. I would absolutely destroy him if we fought again, I would beat him and I know I would.

Paul dismissed the idea of the pair ever fighting again, stating that they would 'absolutely not' ever step into the ring together for a rematch. “This is why I didn't want to come here tonight,” he stated. “Because all these little people I've already beaten and dusted are taking their names to me.”
