Jake Paul appeared amused to hear that his great rival Tommy Fury has withdrawn from his boxing return next month.
Fury was scheduled to face former UFC welterweight title contender Darren Till at a Misfits Boxing event in Manchester on January 18. But he has now announced he will not fight on that date due to concerns over a comment Till made in the build-up to the fight.
Till, better known for MMA than boxing, claimed that if he lost the fight he would simply land a head kick and knock out his rival. And while such a statement seems like an obvious joke, Fury was clearly concerned enough to claim he's pulling out of the fight.
Tommy Fury claims he will not fight Darren Ti on January 18
In a controversial move, Tommy Fury has now stated he will look for a new date and opponent as he fears Till could potentially kick him during their fight. The comment came after a viral clip of a fighter who was losing a boxing match and chose to knock out his rival with a head kick.
Fury wrote on Instagram stories: “I can't believe I'm writing this but I'm not now fighting Darren Till on January 18, 2025.
“The one simple reason is that Darren has stated time and time again that he does not want to play by professional boxing rules and that if he loses the fight he will resort to kicking and other stupid MMA tactics.
“I'm a professional boxer, I've been out of the ring for over a year and I wanted this to be a great BOXING fight for the fans. I wasted weeks at training camp.
“We are working hard to find a new opponent and date. I promise I will get a better opponent and fight better for you. Good news around the corner.”

Darren Till hits back at Tommy Fury and calls out Jake Paul after the fight is canceled
Till has attacked Fury on social media since the fight's cancellation, claiming he simply won the mind games after using the family's bullying techniques against them. He noted that Tommy's brother Tyson Fury, as well as their father John Fury, are some of the most famous trash talkers in combat sports.
The former UFC welterweight title contender also claimed that his team had been aware of the cancellation since Sunday, but has since tried to contact John to save the day. The Fury patriarch manages Tommy's career and chose not to respond to their calls.
