Jake Paul slams Floyd Mayweather’s ‘little son’ for latest callout amidst speculation regarding next fight

It didn't take long for Jake Paul to respond to Gervonta Davis' final call for a boxing match in 2025.

Jake Paul is fresh off his latest boxing victory over heavyweight legend Mike Tyson earlier this year. After a back-and-forth first round, Paul controlled most of the exchanges from round 2 onwards, although he admits he carried Tyson during the final minutes of the fight.

Paul has plenty of options for his next fight after passing his final test and is expected to step up in the competition for his next fight. He is meeting with a former WBA champion to possibly discuss setting up a fight.

In the meantime, Paul has a potential opponent in Floyd Mayweather student Gervonta Davis, who will face Lamont Roach Jr. in March. in his final WBA lightweight title defense. In a recent interview, Davis tried to add himself to the Paul sweepstakes by inviting him.

It took just hours for Paul to issue a fiery response to Davis on social media.

Jake Paul starts arguing with Gervonta Davis about a possible fight

In a recent tweet, Paul responded to Davis' latest post.

“Floyd's son is calling me?… come on, little tank, you know better. I saw you pretending you didn't know who Amanda Serrano and Katie Taylor are,” Paul tweeted.

“Do better and maybe one day I'll give you a platform to shine again after that cheesy basic press conference you just had.”

Davis and Roach were in Washington DC last week for their first pre-fight press conference ahead of their March 1 booking. As of this writing, Davis has not responded to Paul's rant on social media.

Davis, a natural lightweight boxer, would need to add substantial weight for a fight with Paul to come to fruition. Paul's match with Tyson took place in the heavyweight division, and he has competed in the cruiserweight division for most of his boxing career.

Jake Paul is open to facing Gervonta Davis after retiring from influencer boxing

Davis moved to 30-0 with a knockout win against Frank Martin in his most recent WBA lightweight title defense in June. Before Martin won, Davis knocked out Ryan Garcia last year in perhaps the biggest win of his career.

Paul has recovered nicely since suffering his first career boxing defeat against Tommy Fury last year. Since the Fury fight, he has recent victories over former UFC superstar Nate Diaz and Bare Knuckle FC standout Mike Perry.

The Paul vs. Tyson mega-event was a lucrative night for 'The Problem Child' as Netflix's streaming numbers soared. But the fight itself did not meet the high expectations of fans around the world, due to Tyson's old age and health problems.

While a fight between Paul and Davis isn't likely to happen anytime soon, Paul continues to attract the attention of some of the sport's biggest names. 2025 could be another exciting year in the ring for Paul and Davis, especially if Paul chooses to improve his competitive level.
