Jake Paul beats Mike Tyson as the fight goes a long way in Dallas

On a night without knockouts, Jake Paul and Mike Tyson failed to make the stoppage in their highly anticipated matchup. Their original July date was moved when the former heavyweight champion suffered a flare-up of a stomach ulcer that left him fearing for his life.

But he looked in phenomenal form as he took the walk for the first time as a pro since 2005, when he was stopped by Kevin McBride. Paul kept him waiting for a long ring walk before boxing icon 'Iron Mike' came second in his traditional, minimalist black attire.

However, he quickly tired as Paul trudged to a decision victory, at times almost looking like he didn't want to unload on Tyson. In the end, the scorecards read 78-72 on one and 79-71 on two as the YouTuber took the biggest, if not the most impressive win of his career.

The crowd erupted at the sight of Tyson, who entered the ring as a major underdog. And he and Paul gave them what they wanted, with the older fighter attacking early and aggressively from the opening bell.

Paul managed to dodge and land some shots of his own, but seemed nervous about taking the big hits. It looked like Tyson actually took the first, especially considering the short two-minute duration favored him early.

However, within minutes Tyson's slowdown became noticeable and in round five it was a tough wait as Paul unloaded. The final few rounds were pitter banter, with the pair even bowing out to close out the eighth round.

Record-breaking crowds watched live at AT&T Stadium

Before the doors even opened, the showdown between Paul and Tyson broke records. Because the fight was broadcast for free as part of the Netflix subscription, tens of millions of people were expected to watch live and a packed crowd filled the stadium for fight night as well.

The video of Tyson punching Paul went viral on social media, receiving over a quarter of a billion views within 24 hours. And the fight grossed $17.8 million in ticket sales, setting a record in the United States outside Las Vegas for a boxing event.
