James Forrest: Celtic winger on verge of becoming club’s most decorated player | ‘It’s incredible’

James Forrest becomes the most decorated player of Celtic when they reach the Scottish Premiership title, with the winger who strives for more “incredible” moments with the club.

The 33-year-old has won 25 major awards in De Hoops since he made his debut in 2010 and will move forward Lisbon Lion Bobby Lennox if he helps win a trophy for his boys' club.

Forrest scored in his first match for Celtic against Motherwell before he went 109 times in 522 performances.

“It's something when you get through what you don't think about,” he told Sky Sports News.

“Sometimes people try to ask you what your favorite is, but there have been so much good over the years.

“You want to reach the first team, you want to play as many games as you can and win trophies and be part of such a successful team.

“It is a team game, but personal awards are also fun. It has just been a small part of the success over the years with Celtic.

“You see all the names there and the amount of great players who played for this club, it's incredible.”

The Scotland International has played under Neil Lennon, Ronny Deila, Ange Postecoglou and Brendan Rodgers during his 15 seasons and insists that he is not thinking of hanging his boots.

“I played here so often and I still enjoy it as much as ever. I just keep working hard to be here as long as I can,” he added.

“I am not really one for my career to think that I want to do this or I want to do that. I just try to enjoy every day at the moment.

“The amount of highlights I have had over the years is incredible. I just want to keep working hard to hopefully get a few more to come.”

Forrest returned to action last month after collecting an injury in the final of Celtic's League Cup against Rangers in December and he hopes to find a new milestone in 16 different seasons.

“It is one that I and a few people talked about,” he said.

“In my position, that's what I want to do. Hopefully I can score in the following games.

“I think every football player with whom you speak will tell you that the worst is injured.

“I had a bad injury, so I was out for a while, but I love to have such a good team and staff around you to get you through it.

“I really enjoyed the last four games, being involved again and just looking to end the season strongly and to help the team as much as possible.”
