James Maddison breaks his silence after Ange Postecoglou’s sacking

James Maddison has become the newest Tottenham Hotspur player who tributed to Ange Postecoglou after firing the manager, placing a sincere message almost 24 hours after the news was confirmed.

Maddison went to social media shortly before 4 p.m. on Saturday to thank Postecoglou for his faith and leadership during their time at Spurs, in which he described the Australian as a man with 'Great Morals' and a winning mentality.

The creative midfielder, who was signed by Postecoglou in the summer of 2023 and was almost immediately mentioned as one of the club's vice captains, joined a growing list of teammates who publicly thanked the departing boss after he was ruthlessly dismissed by the club on Friday.

In a message addressed to 'Gaffer' Maddison wrote: 'First, thank you for brought me to this beautiful club that I now call my house. Your immediate conviction to not only sign me, but also for me to make the vice captain of the club and the part of the leadership group from the Get Go is something I will always be grateful for.

'Secondly, for the Europa League campaign that started in our stadium on Gamweek One and finished perfectly with that special evening in Bilbao. You led us to victory and we are European champions and in the history books of this club because of you and your winning mentality.

'Finally, and above all is how you are like a man and a person. Your relentless self -belief and strong mindset is contagious and an enormous reason why you were the man to put an end to the 17 -year drought of this club for a trophy.

'A family man with great morality and I honestly learned so much from you. More than you will probably ever know. 'All the best. Madders'.

Maddison's tribute followed messages from various Spurs stars, including club captain Son Heung-Min, who shared his own post around 8 o'clock on Saturday morning.

“Gaffer. You have changed the process of this club, “Son wrote on Instagram. 'You believed in yourself, and us, since the first day and never faltered for a second. Even if others did.

'You knew what we were capable of all the time. You did it your way. And your way brought this club the best evening he had in decades. We will have those memories for life.

'You trusted me with the captain. One of the highest awards of my career. It was an incredible privilege to learn from your leadership up close, I am a better player and a better person because of you.

'Ange postecoglou, you are forever a Tottenham Hotspur legend. Thank you, size. '

The flood of tribute was started shortly after Tottenham had confirmed the resignation of Postecoglou on Friday afternoon, only 16 days after he led the club to a 1-0 victory over Manchester United in the Europa League-final, a 17-year-old waiting for Major Silverwerk and Secure Champions League qualification.

Tottenham issued a statement of 368 words in which he thanked Postecoglou for his service, but claimed that the board had been 'unanimously' agreed that a change of manager was the best way ahead after a gloomy domestic campaign in which Spurs ended 17th in the Premier League.

One of the first players to respond was Pedro Porro, who posted: “Thank you for everything, boss … above everything you gave us one of the best moments in the history of the club and you will always be celebrated for that.”

Richarlison wrote: “Sir, huge thanks for helping me and believed in me during one of the most difficult periods of my career and my life … We have written history!”

Dominic Solanke said: “Will never forget the convo we had before I drew and we have reached a dream!”

Guglielmo Vicario – another member of the leadership group – added: “You are not just a top manager, you are an incredible person to work for, a real leader, a mentor and someone I will always look at.”

Center-back Micky van de Ven summarized the general feeling when he wrote: “Many ups and downs in the past two years, but you kept believing in us … forever grateful.”

Postecoglou has made a farewell declaration himself, who thinks about his two years at the club with pride.

The explanation was: 'When I think about my time as a manager of Tottenham Hotspur, my compelling emotion is one of it.

'The chance to lead one of the historic football clubs in England and to bring back the glory it deserves will live with me for a lifetime. Who share that experience with all those who really love this club and the impact it had on them is something that I will never forget.

'That night in Bilbao was the highlight of two years of hard work, dedication and relying faith in a dream. There were many challenges to overcome and a lot of noise that is accompanied by trying to achieve what many said was not possible.

'We have also laid foundations that mean that this club does not have to wait 17 years for their next success. I have enormous faith in this group of players and know that it contains much more potential and growth.

“I really want to thank those who are the life -made of the club, the supporters. I know there were some difficult times, but I always felt that they wanted me to succeed and that gave me all the motivation I needed to continue.

'It is important to recognize the hard -working people at Spurs who gave me every day.

'And finally I want to thank those who have been with me every day for the past two years. A fantastic group of young men who are now legends of this football club and the brilliant coaches who have never doubted that we could do something special.

“We are connected forever. Audere Est Facere. '
