James Rodriguez signs for Club Leon after leaving Rayo Vallecano

James Rodriguez has signed for Club Leon on a free transfer after leaving Rayo Vallecano.

The former Real Madrid and Bayern Munich star only joined Vallecano last year after enjoying a brilliant Copa America campaign with Colombia.

James led Colombia to the final, which they lost to Argentina, and was one of the players of the tournament.

He created 20 chances, six more than any other player, and provided six assists, four more than anyone else. His expected assists of 2.06 also led the tournament, ahead of Lionel Messi's 1.94.

However, James failed to impress at Vallecano and made just six LaLiga appearances, only one of which was a start.

The 33-year-old has now joined Liga MX side Leon. Since leaving Madrid in 2020, James has also played for Everton, Al-Rayyan, Olympiacos and Sau Paulo, although he has not spent more than a season at any club.
