James Trafford transfer news: City approach Burnley over re-signing goalkeeper

Manchester City has approached Burnley to re -sign goalkeeper James Trafford.

It is understood that the city wants to negotiate the £ 40m inkuspaspers clause that they have on Trafford, which they sold to Burnley in 2023.

If Trafford Burnley were to leave, they would be on the market for a new keeper, and Stadstopper Stefan Ortega is one of some they are currently looking at.

Newcastle had rejected an offer of approximately £ 27 million (including add-ons) by Burnley in June.

Newcastle has signed Anthony Elanga van Nottingham Forest in a deal with a maximum value of £ 55 million, but seems to miss Hugo Ekitike, with the Eintracht Frankfurt striker prefining a move to Liverpool.

Their alternative target, Yoane Wissa, is very unlikely that Brentford will leave after the last bid by Manchester United for Bryan Mbeumo was accepted. The Magpies are currently focusing on recruiting defenders before tackling their attacking situation.

Man City has meanwhile made five summer signing sessions – Tijjani Reijnders, Rayan Cherki, Rayan Ait Nouri, Marcus Bettinelli and Sverre Nypan.

Kyle Walker is one of Burnley's summer additives while preparing for their Premier League return.
