Arsenal remained frustrated in the title race after they collapsed in their attempt to catch Liverpool, who are now 15 points in front of the Premier League, a great pressure on manager Mikel Arteta
Jamie Carragher believes that Arsenal -Baas Mikel Arteta is confronted with the bag if he cannot bring a success to the club next season. The Gunners were again short of the Premier League title race after they have fallen far behind Liverpool from Arne Slot this season.
Arsenal is currently 15 points behind their rivals in the table to take out a disappointing campaign. They also left the Champions League in the semi-final stage to PSG, despite beating Real Madrid in the previous round.
There has been an enormous frustration of the fan base that the club is again inadequate, especially for ownership after not signing a reliable goal scorer in both transfer window.
This season Arsenal has struggled in the midst of a paralyzing injury crisis that has left them without head layers Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus, who contributed to their collapse of the title.
But Carragher believes that a different season could spell the end for Arteta without considerable progress or a trophy after he would be painfully close to success in recent years.
Writing in his daily telegraph column, he said: “To say that his next transfer window might be the last chance, sounds extreme. Arteta has so much credit in the bank, it's fair and rightly so there is more resistance to management change at Arsenal than desire for that.
“But nobody understands better than he that all goodwill for creating an Arsenal team that can win has disappeared.
“Arteta must deliver next season, otherwise his estate will be years of the basis for a successor who is being asked to add the finishing touches.”
Arsenal is connected this summer with a number of attackers, including Alexander Isak, Ollie Watkins, Benjamin Sesko and Viktor Gyokeres.
But Carragher believes that they miss a “creative spark” next to a “productive no. 9”, and said they finished second place to Liverpool because they are not the “complete package”.
“The reason that Arsenal will receive an honorary guard instead of receiving an honorary guard is because they are not the complete package,” he continued. “Out of possession they are the best side of the country, but they miss a creative spark with the ball.
It is not that simple as say 'they need a productive number nine'. Liverpool does not have such a player also not Paris St-Germain-even as the end clearly has an excellent goal scorer in Mohamed Salah. Arsenal has only scored one league objective than Tottenham Hotspur. That will not win a big trophy. “
