Jamie Carragher remained awe when Kaoru Mitoma produced a moment of magic during the 3-0 dismantling of Chelsea of Brighton on Friday evening.
Mitoma, 27, opened the score for the seagulls with a fantastic goal that saw him make a sensational first touch to get a long ball and get the Trevoh Chalobah better.
The goal was clear when goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen hit the pitch to the front line.
It was that elevated clearance-cum-pass that was picked from the sky as an apple from a tree by Mitoma, which opened the chance to curl an attempt along Chelsea keeper Filip Jorgensen.
Mitoma did exactly that, accompanied the ball to the bottom corner and place the seagulls at the front of the Amex.
Commentator Jamie Carragher was one of those who were blown away by the sensational touch and finish.
Speaking of Sky Sports's reporting about the competition, he said: “What have we just seen? That was outrageous from Mitoma.”
Add: “The touch is just as good as everything you will see in the Premier League this season. Wow. And the finish is not bad either.”
Proponents who looked from home were just as stunned by the silky movement and went to social media to be lyrical about the goal – with loads that compare it to Dennis Bergkamp's stunning film against Newcastle in 2002.
A fan wrote: “That Mitoma Touch. Sexy pl -moment since Bergkamp.”
Others also made comparisons with Bergkamp – and may have referred to his incredible touch for Holland against Argentina at the 1998 World Cup, where he picked the ball out of their air before he shot him home.

Although someone else agreed: “That the goal of Kaoru Mitoma must be treated besides the Van Basten's and Bergkamp's of this world, it is not technically better to do that! Absolutely insufficient!”
And third posted: “I just saw the goal of Mitoma, even Dennis Bergkamp would be proud of that.”
And a fourth stumbled: “Mitoma has just painted a masterpiece with his boots.”
Mitoma is good on schedule to have his best goals in the Premier League since his debut in 2022, after he scored six goals and registered three assists in 25 league games this season so far.
The Japanese International has also attracted the attention of potential vovers.
Brighton rejected a wonderful offer worth around £ 75 million from Saudi-Arabian side al-Nassr in January.
The seagulls fly high in the competition after they have defeated Chelsea 3-0 thanks to a double of Yankuba Minth after the moment of Mitoma to remember.
The side of Fabian Hurzeler is now only four points in fifth place, and only six points on Chelsea in the top four on the way to the remaining Premier League matches this weekend.
