Jamie Carragher has mocked colleague Sky Sports Pundit Gary Neville because of his criticism of Evangelos Marinakis, owner of Nottingham.
Neville was banned from the city area in May after he had criticized Marinakis on social media after the forest owner accused the field after a draw at home in Leicester.
Reports this week suggested that Neville should not be to attend Forest's opening match of the season at home at Brentford, which is shown live on SKY Sports on Sunday.
Carragher couldn't resist commenting on the situation when he said, “Do you want to be in Forest, Gary?”
Marinakis seemed to confront Bosbaas Nuno Espirito Santo, but insisted that he was worried about striker Taiwo Awoniyi, who collided with the post but played. The striker then required abdominal surgery.
Neville had shared on X that he thought it was 'outrageous' behavior of Marinakis to have come to the field.
“Nuno should negotiate with him tonight!” read his message. 'The forest fans, players and manager do not earn that.
Forest responded with a statement in which they criticized Neville.
The explanation was: 'With former coaches and players, and other public figures we are in the game to resist the urge to hurry in judgment and fake news online, especially if they do not have the full facts and context.
“Uneven and poorly informed indignation for personal traction in the field of personal social media, nobody serves – least of all injured players.”
Neville later described the decision of Forest as 'disappointing'.
“In the past 14 years I have distributed my considerable part of criticism and praise from doing this job and never came close to this unprecedented action,” Neville wrote.
'Personally, I find it disappointing that a great club like Nottingham Forest has been reduced to making such a decision. Although they have the right to choose who they let in their own stadium, it is symptomatic of things that have happened to the club in the last 12 months. '
Forest had previously threatened Sky Sports with legal steps about Neville's description of a club statement as comparable to one written by a 'Mafia gang'.
After a defeat against Everton in April 2024, Forest released a statement stating that they had been denied three penalties, while they also claimed bias of Var Stuart Attwell.
“Three extremely bad decisions – three fines that are not given – that we simply cannot accept,” said the statement. 'We warned the PGMOL that the VAR is a Luton fan for the game, but they did not change it. Our patience has been tested several times.
“NFFC will now consider the options.”
Neville said about the missive that it was “like a Mafia-Ben report.”
“To be honest, what the hell do they play with? It's like a Petulant child. It's embarrassing. '
Forest insists that Neville is not formally forbidden, but does not want to allow him to enter the stadium until a resolution is found, such as the ex-England International who takes more care when discussing Marinaki's.
