Jamie Carragher reveals what he can’t understand about Trent Alexander-Arnold to Real Madrid

The future of Trent Alexander-Arnold in Liverpool seems to be performing to close, with the English international in Jude Bellingham in Real Madrid accompanying Jude Bellingham

Jamie Carragher does not understand why Trent wants to leave Alexander-Arnold Liverpool if he could win more trophies in Anfield. The former Reds defender is disappointed that it looks like the right back this summer will add to Real Madrid to a free transfer, but it insists that he is not angry.

Liverpool supporters have responded online with anger about Alexander-Arnold who runs away for nothing when a large transfer compensation could have helped the club. But Carragher, who won the Champions League with the Reds in 2005, is more surprised why the player leaves when the side of Arne Slot competes for the highest honor.

He believes that Alexander-Arnold Liverpool would like to lead in the surviving of the 20 league titles of Manchester United and closing the gap over Real's dominance in Europe.

“It seems that there is not one thing that people are not satisfied with – it leaves for free or that he should have come out and the club should have been telling – people are angry for three or four different things,” Carragher told Stick to Football Podcast. “Where I am is that, as a local player and a fan of Liverpool, Liverpool is in a position where they compete every year for the competition and a European Cup.

“So if you are a fan of Liverpool and a local player, I am simply disappointed that he does not think so. I put myself in his position, where I would think we can go with Manchester United in competition -trophies, I have another seven or eight years in Liverpool and want to get three or four for them, with a few more cups.

“We always talk about rivalry and never consider it European. In some respects Real Madrid is a rival, and nobody will catch them- they are the largest and most famous team- but I am desperately looking for Liverpool to become second on that list-AC Milan on 7 [European titles].

“If I were him, I would think we have a great opportunity to win the competition this year and this and could do that and at the end of his time, Liverpool in a position [to top others]. “

Carragher will want Alexander-Arnold to be a success because he “loves people who are doing well from his city”.

He warned the right back that it will not be easy and the pressure will be if he makes mistakes in a Madrid shirt. But Carragher, who made 737 performances for Liverpool as a man of one club, thinks that his own personal ambition drives him to move to Madrid.

He said: “I think Trent is a player who almost looks at himself like a brand, and that is not only he, many players do it now. I go back to an interview that he gave at Sky Sports for Christmas, where he received five options on which he would choose as the most important to you.

“Captain of Liverpool, win the Champions League with Liverpool, win the World Cup with England or wins the balloon d'Or-en He chose the balloon d'Or. He wanted to be the first full-back to win the Ballon d'Or, and there is nothing wrong with ambition, but that was not particularly good with Liverpool-Suporter.”
