Pep Guardiola has claimed that he will take a break from coaching when his time ends in Manchester City, with Jamie Carragher who says it is deserved because of his intense nature
Jamie Carragher says that Pep Guardiola will 'earn' a break when he finally decides to step away from Manchester City because the head coach brings an unparalleled level of intensity to work.
And Liverpool -legend Carragher says that this is proven by how many players have left the club because they have worked too 'heavy' with him.
Guardiola, who signed a contract extension until the summer of 2027 earlier this season, claimed before the Premier League victory against Wolves before the Premier League victory that he would take a break from management if he called time on his trophy-loaded spell in City.
And Carragher told Sky Sports News: “I think they should reset in terms of what they will do on the market in the summer and there was a lot of talk about Pep that might leave this season, but he signed a contract this season.
“Everyone who works with him tells you how intense he is, so uncertain players cannot tolerate that for that long. That is why it sometimes feels much change in Manchester City in terms of staff.
“If someone is not happy, they will get on quite quickly, because although Pep is the most successful coach we have probably ever seen and will probably ever see, it is difficult to work with him.
“So you can imagine what it is like if he has taken his work home, and he has been here for a long time. He has been very successful and he deserves a one -year break if he needs it – if he feels that he needs one, he needs one.”
The 1-0 victory against in-shape wolves, thanks to a first half goal to leave Kevin De Bruyne, has reinforced the grip of the city on a Champions League place.
They now lead the sixth placed Nottingham Forest with four points with three games to play, although the side of Nuno Espirito Santo still has to play this weekend, gone to Crystal Palace, on Monday evening.
In the meantime, De Bruyne has focused another excavation on the hierarchy of the city because he did not give him a new contract. The captain wants to become a member of another Premier League club this summer and after his penultimate home performance for the club with which he has won every big trophy, he said: “I showed that I can still play here (in the Premier League), otherwise I will not do what I have done in these past four or five weeks.
