Jamie Carragher has been told to be told “F *** off” by Furious Chelsea legend John Obi Mikel for rejecting the Africa Cup of Nations.
The Sky Sports Pundit was taken under fire after he said that the continental showpiece of Africa does not count as an important tournament. When he discussed, Carragher claimed what Mohamed Salah should do to win the Ballon d'Or on Sky Sports.
The former defender of Liverpool said: “I think the problem is the fact that he is with Egypt, and he probably does not play as such in the big tournament, or perhaps has a big chance to win, I think it is the Champions League or the most important tournament. Normally the player who excels in it.”
Carragher was immediately challenged by colleague experts Micah Richards and Daniel Sturridge. In the meantime, a number of current and former players have sentenced Afcon's place in the modern game.
Obi Mikel, who won Afcon with Nigeria and the Champions League with Chelsea, was unable to hide his anger because he unleashed an expletively charged response to the comments of Carragher. On his OBI One -Podcast, Mikel said that Carragher would not win a big tournament with England and the Premier League with Liverpool.
“It is so disrespectful what he said, and this comes from someone who has never won a major international competition with England,” he shot.
He emphasized the impact that players from Africa had on the Premier League and said: “If you think the Premier League would be what it is today with only the English players, you are no longer to laugh.
“His statement was so wrong. I hope he will come out and make an enormous apology because he owes people around the world an apology. [It was] Unaware of respecting such a beautiful tournament. “
Mikel praised Richards and Sturridge for trying to correct Carragher. He added: “The grin on his face, the arrogant f *** ing grin on his face to fire … that grin on his face is definitely what I put.
“You have people who try to correct you and you come out and absolutely attacks everyone and discredit this beautiful, beautiful tournament. I was lucky to win the Africa Cup of Nations. I know the blood and the tears that we shed. '
While Carragher won the Champions League, the Premier League avoided him. Mikel went on: “The man says so many things on TV, [he] Never won the Premier League, analyzes teams and tells them that you have to win the Premier League.
“You never won it, you don't know what is needed to win the F *** ING Premier League, you don't know what it takes to win with your national team. You cannot discredit such a beautiful, beautiful tournament. People in Africa die for the Africa Cup of Nations. Children grow up and look at their idols. It inspires them.
“I am angry, he spent so many years playing for Liverpool, he did not win the F *** ING Premier League. He sits there for week, week out, tells and teaches people and tries to tell people how to win the Premier League. You didn't win!
“Africans look at you at the weekend and you sit there, open your mouth and put the entire F *** ING the African continent in discredit. He can get rid of it. We know in Africa what we bring to the Premier League.
“If you won the euros with England, I may understand that. You won F *** all with England. Fall. And you are trying to discredit the tournament I have won, to pre -throw blood and tears? '
