Jamie Redknapp takes brutal swipe at Arsenal’s set piece coach Nicolas Jover

Jamie Redknapp has focused on tackling Arsenal coach Nicolas Jover after the Gunners fell behind to a set-piece in Newcastle in the Carabao Cup semi-final.

The Magpies took the lead in the 37th minute of their semi-final at the Emirates with Alexander Isak pounced on a loose ball in the penalty area.

Newcastle defender Sven Botman had won the first header from a direct ball forward, before Jacob Murphy's touch found the path of Isak and the in-form striker finished.

Sky Sports pundit Jamie Redknapp highlighted how despite Isak's lethal form in front of goal, the Swedish star was marked by Arsenal midfielder Martin Odegaard.

Redknapp noted how Arsenal coach Jover had received plaudits all season for the Gunners' impressive record in dead-ball situations, but as a result suggested he should take some of the blame for Isak's goal.

“The set-piece coach gets a lot of credit, he's clearly not doing the defensive job,” Redknapp joked.

'Because how you can make Odegaard mark him, he is now the best striker in the country, you have to say: true, let's mark him. Odegaard has no interest in marking him.

“He just ends up in a really good position. If you do anything, look at Alexander Isak, he is on the wrong side of Odegaard. Someone has to take responsibility.

'I know Newcastle are a big team, but Arsenal are a big team. You can't have the best striker in the country in that much space. I think it's nonsensical.'
