Jamie Vardy has no plans to retire but future at King Power remains uncertain

Jamie Vardy has no plans to retire and his future in Leicester City will be decided before the end of the season.

Vardy's current contract will be in two months, but the striker has a very close relationship with the bosses of Leicester, with whom he is constantly in dialogue.

Vardy is still very ambitious, still wants to play at the highest level and achieve more in football, and although it is thought that there would be options for him at other Premier League clubs, he has a love for Leicester and an emotional attraction to do the club immediately.

It is still possible that he could sign a new contract in the King Power Stadium and play a 14th season in the East Midlands – even if (as probably now) it seems that he will play in the championship next season.

Vardy remains convinced that he still has a lot to offer at elite level.

In a struggling team, the 38-year-old eight goals and three assists contributed to 29 performances. He has been involved in 10 of the 25 goals that Leicester has managed in the Premier League.

The statistics show that he has treated an average of 9.6k per game – which is comparable to his distances in the last five seasons in the top division (an average of 9.8k), although he places a lower expected goals (XG) count than before.

At the end of last season, the fans of Leicester organized a pre-match show of solidarity with Vardy, for fear that it could be his last game for the club, with a tribute video on social media and support tires in the stands.

He then signed an annual extension last June after the promotion of Leicester back to the top division.
