Jason Tindall reveals Eddie Howe message after thumping win over Man United

Jason Tindall said that Eddie Howe was able to view Newcastle's 4-1 victory over Manchester United from the hospital and sent him a congratulatory message full-time.

However, there was no update about the health of the head coach, which was admitted on Friday evening after he felt unwell during the week and underwent tests this weekend.

Tindall confirmed that Howe did not play a role in the preparations, and it seems likely that he will still be in charge of Wednesday's visit to Crystal Palace.

The assistant boss said: 'I have just seen a message from him congratulating the execution. He managed to view the game. I had no other contact for a few days than the only message.

'I think the team probably chose itself with recent performances, but when he was sick and he could not be here, he put his trust in myself and the rest of the supporting staff to deliver the implementation.

“He was taken to the hospital on Friday evening and was bad, and from that moment it was very unlikely that he would be here to lead the team today.

“He was missed enormously, especially for me. It is only the second time in 17 years that we have not been side by side and I missed him.

'You miss your leader if he is not there, but the will and the honor to everyone to get into those shoes – they are big shoes to fill.

'He is one of the best that everyone is in the area to go out and deliver the performance they have done. I am sure he will be proud of that.

“He means the world for myself, the rest of the staff and my players, and the sooner he is better and able to come back to work, the better.”

Newcastle released a statement on Saturday in which he said that Howe was 'conscious and talk' in the hospital and that there was no further update.

Captain Bruno Guimaraes devoted the victory to Howe and said: 'When we went to the field, we said we wanted to play for him. He has been incredible to us. Hopefully this victory gives him a little luck. We want to see him again for the next game. '

Harvey Barnes, who scored twice in St James 'Park, added:' He is hopefully on his way to recovery. We knew we had a job without him and we did that. '
