Jeremie Frimpong seems to be the replacement of Liverpool for Trent Alexander-Arnold and club heads can give the Bayer Leverkusen-Man a perfect welcome gift when he arrives at Anfield
Jeremie Frimpong could make a difficult decision as soon as he arrives in Liverpool. The Reds seem to make a step for the Dutchman who has decided to activate a release clause written in his contract with Bayer Leverkusen.
As soon as the formalities of the deal are completed, Frimpong will then have to choose the shirt number that he wants to put on as red. The most obvious selection would be the number 30 shirt.
The 24-year-old has behaved that number with the former club Celtic and during his entire Stint in Germany. And luckily for him it is currently empty in Anfield – and it is about a decade.
The last occupant of the number 30 shirt from Liverpool was the Spanish Wideman Suso. He got the shirt at his first breakthrough in the first team, but he made only 21 performances for the club, once scored before he left for AC Milan permanently in 2014.
Since then it has remained empty. Although Frimpong will probably break it, there still seems to be some work to take him to Anfield.
Earlier this week, Bayer Leverkusen spoke CEO Fernando Carro that a deal was not imminent. In conversation with the German outlet sport, he said: “Jeremie Frimpong has a long contract with us, he also has a release clause, but we are not aware of a movement at the moment.
“The rumors surprised me a bit when I started in the football company seven years ago. I have gradually been there longer, there are always different interested parties, there are different parties, there are different relationships.
“It is actually very difficult to find out where the rumors come from, but I have to say, there are many that really surprise me.”

Frimpong may be accompanied by one of his current teammates on Anfield if he moves this summer. Liverpool is also interested in playmaker Florian Wirtz, just like Premier League -Rivalen Manchester City who see him as a potential replacement for Kevin De Bruyne.
The German international could also be set to wear his dream shirt number on Merseyside. His shirt number with Bayer Leverkusen – 27 – is currently empty in Anfield after the decision of Darwin Nunez to switch to nine.
Both Frimpong and Wirtz would wear an elevated price tag if they become Liverpool stars. The first has written a release clause of £ 30 million in his deal, while Wirtz is said to be appreciated at around £ 120 million.
