Jess Carter insists that the support of the fans of England, her teammates and her family helped her to play a key role in the success of England 2025 in England after she had admitted that she was “super scared” to play in the final.
Carter revealed prior to the semi -final victory of England in Italy that she had taken a step back from social media, which had been subject to racist blemish since the tournament.
The defender's teammates came to support her post on social media that “it was not correct that some of us are treated differently because of the color of our skin.” The lion ribbons did not take their knee for their semi -final with Italy.
The 27-year-old, all four games of England in Switzerland had started, missed a place in the starting XI against Italy. Carter, however, was recalled by Baas Sarina Wiegman for the crucial final confrontation with Spain and in an emotional interview after the game, she admitted that she was afraid of playing before she produced a striking performance in the heart of the defense of England.
The defender put her performance on the support she received from the English fans, her teammates, Wiegman and her family.
“The support I felt of the fans was incredible,” she told Sky Sports News.
“I can't thank them enough, because without the fans, my teammates and my family, I don't know if I had everyone the courage to go back on the field and play again.
“Normally I am not someone who is struggling with the hatred they have received, because everyone will get their opinion. But this tournament was difficult and I was not sure if I could get back on the field and do it.
“Everyone of those fans, I will never be able to show my thanks, but they have been incredible and I hope they will continue to encourage the lion ribbons every day.”
Carter has added to ITV: “I am more disappointed in myself for earlier versions thanks to everyone else.
“I was super scared to play for the first time in my life today, but when I woke up and I saw my team, and the support I had and the conviction I had of my teammates, my family and my manager, I knew I could just come out and give it everything.
“That's all you can do.”
When winning the euros again, she added: “It is incredible, the fans have already been incredible and we could not have done this without them.
“We are so grateful for them and at the moment. Giving up is not in our DNA. We have been held from the minute one. I cannot be more proud of this team and I am so honored to be part of it.”

'Carter showed that she is a strong personality'
Wiegman was full of praise for Carter's performance in the final against Spain, who won England on penalties.
England's boss revealed that Carter's absence against Italy was tactical, but she had no trouble throwing her back against Spain.
“It says something about the team that we can make tactical decisions,” said Wiegman in her press conference after the game.
“I have said a few times now that I was really happy for the tournament with my team and that we had players in the same position that could bring different things. That was also in this case, with Esme [Morgan] and Jess [Carter].
“Against Italy it was a different game than Spain, and we thought we needed Jess now in the starting line-up, with the fight and the duels that she can play.”
She added: “She showed that she is a very strong personality and that she was ready to perform against Italy, but that was a tactical decision.
“I have all the conviction in her and she had to believe herself. That is the most important thing that she contributed to the team and you could see that the team also trusted her.”
