Barcelona is not going to sign a striker this summer, although that could change is that Alexander Isak will be a feasible option. The Catalan side is satisfied with Robert Lewandowski and Ferran Torres as their number nine options, although the first must be replaced soon.
Isak, who recently helped Newcastle United to win the Carabao Cup, has been in sensational form this season and that is why interest has grown in his services. Arsenal and Liverpool would really like to sign him, and Barcelona is also there – although they are in the background for the time being.
It is said that Isak is very interested in a possible move to Barcelona, and the club answers this feeling. Despite their well -documented financial misery, there is a desire to take him to Catalonia.
As reported by Sport, Barcelona President Joan Laporta and Sporting Director Deco agree that when the time comes, the club must do everything to sign Isak, whereby Laporta is especially “a significant financial effort to be made to achieve his signing”.
Barcelona met Isak's representatives towards the end of 2024, and although very little progress was made in terms of an agreement of personal conditions, both parties left with good feelings. However, getting a deal would be extremely difficult, because Newcastle has no plans to sell, and even if they did, their asking price would be towering.
Nevertheless, Barcelona would certainly have a considerable advantage over Arsenal and Liverpool in that Newcastle would rather not sell it to a Premier League rival, so their asking price could be less than those of those who would pay clubs in England.
It is still to be seen whether Barcelona can move to Isak in the future. There is no doubt that he would be the dream Lewandowski successor, but that dream can be an unrealistic.
