Joaquin Buckley gives harsh review of Ian Machado Garry’s ‘trash’ performance against Carlos Prates

The top of the Welterweight division becomes interesting with different contenders who all campaign for title shots.

On Saturday evening in Kansas City, Ian Machado Garry Carlos Prates defeated to put his name back in the mix now that he returned from a loss.

Dana White gave Machado Garry the green light for his UFC 315 plans where he hopes to make the trip to Montreal on a few weeks to weigh as a backup hunter for the Welterweight title fight.

Nevertheless, there are several other names that are also on a shot from a shot against those who end up in the Bell Center on 10 May.

Joaquin Buckley will try to complicate the title photo even more by beating Kamaru Usman when they come across the UFC Atlanta's main event on 14 June.

Joaquin Buckley says that Ian Machado Garry has played it safely against Carlos Prates

Of all the best welterweight contenders, Joaquin Buckley probably spent the most time talking about Ian Machado Garry.

The two men were originally matched for UFC Tampa in December last year until the Irishman was moved to the Co-Main event of UFC 310 with 'New Mansa' instead against Colby Covington.

After Machado Garry was defeated by Shavkat Rakhmonov, he returned on Saturday evening, where a strong start of the fight saw him win a unanimous decision against Carlos Prates.

'The Future' was in clear control for most of the game, but the Brazilian found a way back to the end of the fight and at one point he looked at just a few moments away from the Irishman to produce a remarkable comeback.

Eventually Machado Garry did a smart version that was somewhat affected by the way the fight ended and Buckley was not impressed by his display.

'New Mansa' was present at the T-Mobile Center in Kansas City and he gave his review of the main event in an interview with Inside Fighting.

“I think it was waste. I really think Ian Garry had the potential to really put it on prates, but he tried to play it safely all the time, tried to prevent them from coming out. Of course we saw those prates in that fifth round, he tried to get him and everything of that nature to go to the booty.

“My husband Tynna is struggling, my husband Trynna meets the sweet life, but I feel that Ian Garry himself was playing. He could have really had a performance of the night type, but you know, too scared.”

Joaquin Buckley sends a message to Kamaru Usman after the fight was officially made

Ian Machado Garry has already stated that he believes that he will get the next recording to the title of Welterweight, despite the other names that are in the mix.

The only man who defeated him, Shavkat Rakhmonov, still seems to be the number one competition, but the will of Machado Garry and Sean Brady pick up those big wins while he is inactive, will not help his business.

It is now up to Joaquin Buckley to strengthen his title Push by beating a recurring Kamaru Usman in Atlanta once the goodweight title is disputed in Montreal.

At the end of his interview with Inside Fighting, Buckley gave this short message to Usman now their fight is locked up before 14 June.

“Get ready to sleep.”
