UFC colors commentator Joe Rogan believes that the organization was wrong to use one incident to find the fight between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor in Hype.
It is safe to say that no fight has had the kind of hostility, both before and after and the bitter rivalry of Nurmagomedov with McGregor. Their hatred for each other culminated in a Headliner of bad blood at UFC 229, where Nurmagomedov McGregor submitted with a neck crank before he jumped the cage and attacked the corner of the Irishman.
'The Eagle' lost his cool after a structure fed by controversy and fueled by actions that ensured that the Irishman was arrested. After a collision between the teammate Artem Lobov van Dagestani and McGregor, the former Champ camp went to Brooklyn to confront the soon too lightweight King before UFC 223.
McGregor attacked a bus with UFC hunters, including Nurmagomedov, in Barclays Center. The Dubliner threw a dolly at the vehicle, shattered a window and injured several people.
Joe Rogan did not agree with UFC using the bus attack to khabib nurmagomedov vs. Conor McGregor to promote
While the actions of McGregor brought him into the detention of the police and resulted in a community service, the UFC clearly saw a chance.
The promotion made use of the incident by using it to further promote the title challenge of the Irish against Nurmagomedov later in the year. UFC 229 shattered PPV records by attracting a mammoth 2.4 million purchases.
Reflecting on the bus attack during a recent episode of his JRE MMA show, Joe Rogan made it clear that he did not agree with the UFC using the moment as a promotion tool.
“I admire people who don't talk – but I also like a little S – talk,” said Rogan. “I do that because it's fun.
“It makes people excited and it gets a lot of eyes on the sport. It provides more pay-per-view purchases, so I think the UFC encourages it. Whether they encourage it or not, they use those things.
“Like then Conor against Khabib, they threw in the video of Conor who threw the F – Dolly in the bus. You remember that? What is crazy,” Rogan added.
“It is almost encouraging that kind of behavior, which is crazy.”
The controversial behavior of McGregor has not been released since then. He is trapped in a multitude of legal issues, including the standing out of an older man and being held liable in a court case of civilian sexual attacks.
Joe Rogan closed Conor McGregor during the UFC 223 broadcast
Rogan's comments are far from a surprise, given how he responded to McGregor's bus attack at that time.
At the start of UFC 223, an event that some of his hunters lost due to the injuries as a result of the Dolly throw of the Irishman, Rogan was in McGregor.
“It's a shame,” said Rogan. “It's pathetic, it's disgusting. I hate it.
“I hate it happened. And I hate it that happened, caused by a man I like. I am a gigantic conor mcgregor fan, and to see him so badly just walking, really, really upset.”
