Joe Rogan disputes Khabib Nurmagomedov being the greatest UFC lightweight of all time

Khabib Nurmagomedov is generally considered the greatest lightweight hunter of all time, but not by UFC support pillar, Joe Rogan.

Khabib Nurmagomedov shocked the MMA world in 2020 when he retired from the sport after dominating Justin Gaethje on UFC 254 to go 29-0.

'The Eagle' is generally considered one of the greatest hunters of all time, and the most dominant lightweight of all time, despite his Protege Islam Makhachev who broke his record last January with a different deficiency defense.

Nurmagomedov now creates an inheritance as one of the best coaches in sport, allowing Makhachev to continue the Russian dominance of the lightweight division.

Joe Rogan disputes that Khabib is the largest lightweight ever

Although the general consensus, however, that Khabib is the largest 155LB hunter ever, Joe Rogan has disputed that by claiming that BJ Penn is the largest lightweight hunter ever.

'The Prodigy' has somewhat affected his estate at the end of his UFC career after completing his career 16-14-2 and lost his last seven fights.

For that, however, Penn scored victories on some huge names in the sport, such as Sean Sherk, Kenny Florian and Joe Stevenson.

“People talk about Khabib as the greatest lightweight of all time and perhaps he is quite possible that he is,” Joe Rogan began to explain in a recent episode of the Joe Rogan experience.

“But I would place the BJ Penn that fought against Joe 'Daddy' Stevenson, the BJ Penn fought against Sean Sean Sherk, the BJ Penn who was in that peak when he was training, I would put him against anyone against everyone.

“When he fought against Diego Sanchez, he could not be stopped. And if you brought him to the ground, his F – Submission match was insane. He was insane of his back, he would take your back, you were dead. He would hit you, his kickboxes was elite,” Rogan continued.

Will Islam Makhachev catch up as the greatest lightweight of all time?

Both Penn and Nurmagomedov are now retired from the sport, so that the door remains open to Makhachev to no doubt about who the greatest lightweight of all time is.

With the Russian that held the record for the most title defense in the history of the division, a few victories on 155 pounds were able to cement its name as the greatest lightweight ever.

And although he has plans to go to Welterweight in the not so distant future, he has sent a message from Belal Muhammad to stay on light for the time being.
