Joe Rogan has corrected the record after claiming Jon Jones could potentially make $30 million for his next UFC title defense.
The legendary commentator said during a recent episode of his podcast that he had heard a rumor that Jones would receive the eye-popping payday to face interim champion Tom Aspinall. He also noted that he heard the UFC might accept and make the fight.
But after Dana White contacted him this week, he retracted his statement. He now says Jones is considering hanging up his gloves, although he could make a return after a long absence.
Joe Rogan claimed during a recent podcast that Jon Jones could make $30 million to take on Tom Aspinall
Last week, Joe Rogan made headlines when he told comedians Yannis Papis and Chris DiStefano that he had heard about a possible purse for Jon Jones' next fight. He claimed that not only was he asking for $30 million, but the UFC might even pay it.

Speaking about the Joe Rogan Experience, he told his two friends: “Rumor has it he wants $30 million,” before adding: “I hope they [UFC] pay it.”
The news spread like wildfire, but many thought it seemed too good to be true. The UFC famously doesn't pay their fighters tens of millions, aside from Conor McGregor, and the payout would be significantly more than Jones has ever earned.
Dana White corrects Joe Rogan on the Jon Jones wallet rumor
However, when comedian Theo Von asked him if he believes “we can still get real news information,” Rogan responded “not from me” during the latest episode of his podcast. He then made it clear that he wanted to withdraw his previous claim.
“Speaking of which, I have to correct something because I had a conversation with Yannis Pappis and Chris DiStefano,” he added.
“We were talking about Jon Jones and I had heard a rumor that Jon Jones wanted $30 million to fight Tom Aspinall and I heard that rumor and I heard the UFC said yes. But it's not true. Dana contacted me and said the rumor is nonsense***.
“So I felt obligated to tell everyone it was a fake rumor. I don't even remember because unfortunately we did that podcast two weeks ago, I don't remember who told me that.”
Joe Rogan claims Jon Jones can now retire
When asked by Von what amount of money he thought Jones would need to do the Aspinall fight, Rogan added, “Well, apparently Jon is thinking about retiring and he should. I mean, he'll have to do that one day.
“I'm not saying he should retire, but I am saying he should think about it, give the man all the time he wants and he can fight whenever he wants. That's Jon Jones, he's the GOAT. So leave him alone.
“If one day he decides to come back and he wants to come back and fight Tom Aspinall for the heavyweight title, then the question is, how long can you hold the title before they start that conversation?

“Now he just took out Stipe Miocic, so give the guy months. Give the man five or six months, leave him the hell alone! But at some point you have to decide who the heavyweight champion is.
“So if Tom is interim heavyweight champion and Jon decides he doesn't want to fight anymore, he can do that. And he could do that and then come back in a year and fight for the title, he can do whatever he wants.
“But he might decide, 'You know what? I had an incredible career that I never lost except for losing the DQ due to a rule that has since been reversed. He is the GOAT. he's retiring? He has enough money, he has the chance to do some acting, yes.
