Joe Rogan reveals rumoured purse Jon Jones wants for Tom Aspinall fight: ‘I hope they pay it’

UFC commentator Joe Rogan has indicated which purse heavyweight champion Jon Jones is looking for to take on interim titleholder Tom Aspinall.

Jon Jones made his first defense of his heavyweight title in November 2024 when he scored a TKO victory over UFC veteran Stipe Miocic.

The third round win over Miocic was Jones' second victory in the heavyweight division since claiming the title in early 2023. However, Jones is not considered the undisputed champion.

Due to an injury suffered by Jones in 2023, Tom Aspinall was allowed to fight for an interim heavyweight title against Sergei Pavlovich, a fight he won via first-round knockout.

With Aspinall a clear contender to be Jones' next challenge, UFC president Dana White has confirmed the two will next battle for the heavyweight title.

Jon Jones wants $30 million?

Speaking on the Joe Rogan Experience (2:31), the titular announcer and UFC commentator has said what he believes is Jones' desired wallet for the potential heavyweight showdown against Aspinall.

“The rumor is he wants $30 million,” Rogan told his guests before adding, “I hope they do [UFC] pay it.”

Ahead of UFC 309, a major talking point of the week was about Jones fighting Stipe Miocic as opposed to interim champion Tom Aspinall.

Speaking at the post-fight press conference of UFC 310, Jones responded to a question about the interim champion by saying, “Tom Aspinall is an asshole and I don't want to do business with him.” Jones also stated that he would only fight the Englishman if he was given 'F*** you money'.

However, UFC president Dana White addressed the potential matchup following the company's final event of the year on December 14. When asked if he could guarantee the division would be unified by 2025, White gave a “100%” promise that the pair would meet.

White also described the fight as “the greatest fight in heavyweight history.”

Tom Aspinall talks about Jon Jones and his shortcomings after UFC 309

After the November 2024 event, UFC interim heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall said he sees “openings” in Jon Jones' game.

Aspinall was interviewed at Madison Square Garden after the event and credited Jones with being one of the greatest fighters of all time. However, he also said that he “definitely sees openings,” before adding “whether I can do it, or not… I don't know.”

Aspinall last fought in an interim title defense against Curtis Blaydes. In a rematch between the two, the English team was able to bounce back from an injury-induced TKO loss to Blaydes in their first meeting, earning his own first-round knockout.
