With the first quarter of the year almost already passed, we have already had some great fights in the UFC.
After another incredible year for the UFC last year, the promotion started with a new extremely solid start to the new year.
January saw lightweight champion, Islam Makhachaev defended his title in an explicit way when he finished Renato Micano in the first round at UFC 311.
In that event, Merab Dvalishvili also saw a shock title defense against the then under reports, Umar Nurmagomedov in a huge fight at Bantam weight.
Although there have already been a number of incredible fights, the foundation has been laid for various other Blockbuster -Matchups.

Jon Anik reveals which 3 fights he hopes that the UFC will make this year
Someone who is so close to the promotion every weekend is UFC commentator, Jon Anik.
In an exclusive interview with Bloody Elbow, Anik revealed which three fights he hopes that we will see this year under the UFC banner.
“So I think a Merab Dvalishvili vs Alexandre Pantoja fight is interesting, but Pantoja wants to go down if this always great flying weight and you have Kai Kara-France and Manel Kape both in the wings, so I am not sure if that fight will happen,” Anik began to explain.
“As much as I have defended the cause of Manon Fiorot, I will say, Valentina Shevchenko vs Zhang Weili, I would really like to see that Mega fight in 2025,” the UFC commentator chose first.
Zhang Weili recently defended her title for the third time of her most recent reign and gave Tatiana Suarez her first professional loss at UFC 312.
After that fight, Dana White left a potential fight between Zhang and Valentina Shevcheko, with both hunters who had plagued it in the past.
“Khamzat Chimaev vs Drus Du Plessis was my dream fight that went into the year, now the foundation has been laid, so I think you're going to get that fight,” Anik continued.
After successfully defending his title against Sean Strickland on UFC 312, Dricus Du Plessis set up for an incredible title fight against Khamzat Chimaev, with that fight apparently guaranteed.
“The last one I will say would be Robert Whittaker vs Sean Strickland, I think that is an important fight in the middleweight division and I really think it is so consistent for the loser of that fight in terms of always competing for the title ever.
“If it was up to me, I would go du plessis vs chimaev headlines international fight week with Strickland vs Whittaker underneath,” he said.
Robert Whittaker then wants to fight against Sean Strickland
Although Anik's choice for Sean Strickland vs Robert Whittaker might be a big surprise, Whittaker has explained all his interest in fighting Strickland, with that potential fight that apparently makes sense.
The loser of that fight would undoubtedly lose any future opportunity to fight again for the middleweight title, whereby the division is somewhat going through a transitional period.
