Jon Jones details five-year plan as he eyes two more UFC wins before dramatic career change

Jon Jones has mapped out how he sees his next five years going.

The UFC heavyweight champion teased his retirement before knocking out Stipe Miocic at UFC 309 in November.

After the fight, talks immediately turned to a unification clash with interim titleholder Tom Aspinall.

UFC boss Dana White is pushing hard for what he believes could be the biggest fight in the company's history, and Jon Jones appears to be convinced to stick around for a while.

UFC, money and acting

Jon Jones recently took part in a strange interview in which he got behind the wheel of a $5 million car.

'Bones' talked about his plans for the future while driving around in a Bugatti with Alex Gonzalez.

The 37-year-old suggested his next fight could be his last. However, he said he could end up in the Octagon two more times as he tries to make as much money as possible before retiring and pursuing a career in Hollywood.

“Within the next five years, I want to win one more fight, maybe even two more fights, and try to make as much money as possible in the UFC,” Jones said.

“I want to launch my acting career. I've always wanted to be an actor. I think I do pretty well in front of the camera and I've done little commercials and things like that.

“Every time I'm on set, everyone says, 'Bro, it's hard to believe you're a fighter. You know, you act just like all our professional actors.” So that's my five year plan. In ten years I just want to be the best father I can be.”

Jones recently made his small screen debut with a cameo in the Netflix MMA drama La Cage, which also stars his former opponent Ciryl Gane and fellow fighting legend Georges St-Pierre.

Now he's filming military-style scenes for a new project he's enjoying working on. Earlier this week, Jones shared images and footage from his time on set, with a caption that made his plan for life after fighting very clear.

“Man, what a humbling experience,” Jones wrote. “Making the move into acting feels like a whole new game, and I'm ready to put in the work, just like I always have. I'm honored, I'm motivated and I'm excited about what lies ahead.

“This is just the beginning. The grind doesn't end: let's keep building something special. The future looks very bright.”

Dana White guarantees Jon Jones vs. Tom Aspinall

Jon Jones has been honest about his distaste for fighting Tom Aspinall. The greatest of all time would prefer to face light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira instead, but UFC bosses have no interest in making that match at the moment.

Dana White recently guaranteed that Jones will fight Aspinall sometime next year.

“100 percent,” he said at a recent press conference when asked if the heavyweight unification fight is the biggest he can make in 2025. “I think this is probably the biggest fight in heavyweight history and it's a huge fight in the history of the business. , at. It's a big fight.”

The reporter pointed out that Jones was “on the fence” about fighting Aspinall before White stepped in to provide a promising update on the negotiations.

He added: “It's weird. Let me tell you what's weird about that. So usually those guys say that behind the scenes and not publicly. Jon says that in public and not behind the scenes.

“Jon is a very unique individual to be around. From day one, I had confidence that Jon Jones would take that fight. Even earlier [UFC 309] I said, 'If he won, there's no way Jon wouldn't take the fight.'

“Jon Jones is not afraid to fight anyone, and that's a fact. The only time anything weird has ever happened to Jon Jones is when his damn camp did the weird Chael Sonnen thing. “We can't fight Chael Sonnen on short notice.”

“And he wasn't, it was his team, and he listened to his team for whatever reason. But that's the craziest move in UFC history. Other than that, behind the scenes, Jon Jones is not a guy who turns down fights.”

“I say one hundred percent [the fight will happen].”
