Jon Jones’ former opponent names his underrated skillset which ended their fight in a devastating first-round finish

Jon Jones is considered the greatest of all time for a good time.

Although it seems that Tom Aspinall is willing to continue fighting Jones, the UFC does not have to fight heavyweight champion again.

His public perception has certainly decreased, with fans starting a petition to strip Jones from the belt, but his CV is currently speaking for himself.

'Bones' seemed to be unbeatable during his light heavyweight title line, where he continued to dominate opponents and had stored legends with every outing.

At UFC 159 he quickly made work from another Hall of Famer before Jones realized that he had sustained a horrible injury that fortunately had no influence on the outcome.

Chael Sonnen compares Jon Jones' land and pounds with Khabib Nurmagomedov

In his fifth successful title defense, Jon Jones stopped Sonnen in the first round at UFC 159.

'Bones' was almost negative from the skills of his opponent as he looked to get close to his challenger and throw him, instead of using his superior striking and reach.

Jones insured various Takedowns in the opening round before he was able to land some enormous soil and pound attacks, which rained elbows of the top that led to the interruption, bleeding the face of Sonen in the process.

'The Bad Guy' spoke in a recent interview with Bloody Elbow about his experience in fighting the current UFC Heavyweight Champion.

When comparing Jones with some of the other great hunters with whom he is confronted as Anderson Silva and Fedor Emelianko, Sonnen emphasized the underrated land of Jones and Pound as a factor that distinguishes him.

'Jon Jones' ground and pound, and I don't think Jon will ever get the honor for that. He will do some work on the ground, but he hits you so well, his ground and pound is top three ever. I mean, I would compare it with Khabib. Khabib does a little better with you and you are a time, and you are a time, you are a time, you are a Jon Jones, you are a Jon Jones -lleboog, you are a Jon Jones -lleboog.

“You are not the same person as you were before you took that elbow, but then he comes up and he gives you another elbow. Things change quickly and I just don't know how much credit Jon got from our community for his land and pound skills.”

Chael Sonnen highlights various other Jon Jones -strong points that are not spoken enough

Although the statement of Chael Sonnen that Jon Jones has never been collected is not supported by UFC statistics, with both Daniel Cormier and Alexander Gustafsson who compete against him, he indicated that we have never seen 'bones' in a bad position on the ground.

The heavyweight champion has long been considered the most well -rounded hunter we have ever seen in the Octagon and several hunters have tested that.

Sonnen emphasized various other attributes that have not always been brought up when people talk about how great Jones is real.

“We don't have to worry about his Jiu-Jitsu. He is never at the bottom. He has this creepy capacity to always be at the top, but the pressure he can exert, and Jon Jones can breathe late in a fight. I mean, guys get tired … Jon is not tired.
