Jon Jones figured after a year full of headlines for him in and out of the cage.
UFC heavyweight champion Jon Jones is coming off a triumphant performance in his highly anticipated showdown with Stipe Miocic at UFC 309. In one of the most dominant performances of his career, Jones systematically defeated former champion Miocic en route to a late round stoppage. TKO win.
It was an exceptional end to what had been a long road back to the Octagon for Jones, which stemmed from a torn pectoral tendon he suffered last year. After initially teasing his retirement, he is in active negotiations with the UFC to potentially fight Tom Aspinall in 2025.
As the final hours of 2024 ticked down, Jones took to social media to address his followers as he prepared for what could be another year of accolades.

Jones shared a message with his followers on social media on the last day of 2024.

It has been full of challenges, blessings and opportunities, and I am beyond grateful for the ride,” said Jones. “None of this would have been possible without the people who have supported me all the way – my family, my team, my coaches and of course all of you who support me every step of the way. way.
“This year I have reached new heights in ways I never thought possible: on the mat, in the Octagon, on screen and, most importantly, as a husband and father. That doesn't happen without a strong foundation, and you all have been that for me.
'So from the bottom of my heart: thank you. The love and energy you give me push me to keep going and strive for greatness. And believe me when I say this: this is just the beginning. Let's keep building. God bless!”

Before his UFC 309 win, Jones teased retirement or facing Alex Pereira for his UFC final, but those plans appear to be off the table following the firing of UFC CEO Dana White. Aspinall remains optimistic that the Jones fight will happen in 2025, possibly before the UFC's annual International Fight Week event in Las Vegas.
Meanwhile, Jones is enjoying some time off while he plots his next move. If his recent social media posts are any indication of things to come, expect big things from Jones in 2025.
