Jon Jones responds to claims that he’s ducking Tom Aspinall in hilarious update on social media

Jon Jones retained his heavyweight title in emphatic fashion after landing a spinning back kick to the body of Stipe Miocic at UFC 309.

The devastating finish came in the third round of last night's bout, as MMA legend Stipe Miocic called time on his glittering career shortly after the defeat.

Jon Jones, meanwhile, has ruled out a possible exit from the sport, believing he can further cement his already decorated legacy.

But while he is considered by many to be the greatest UFC fighter of all time, the 37-year-old has been largely criticized for his reluctance to take on interim heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall.

Jon Jones embraces accusations with latest profile photo

Jones, of course, has already achieved more than most fighters could ever dream of, going undefeated at light heavyweight for a decade before moving on to the land of the giants.

Sure enough, 'Bones' only extended his flawless run in the glamor division, claiming the UFC heavyweight title with a first-round submission against Ciryl Gane before defending his crown against Miocic.

Yet the American has faced a plethora of accusations that he is avoiding Aspinall, who has seemingly done more than enough to earn his title shot.

The Brit has gone above and beyond to produce a series of awe-inspiring performances, ending his last six appearances in the first round.

And yet, Jones has instead turned his attention to UFC light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira, who has expressed a desire to make his heavyweight debut.

However, despite the backlash, Jones has embraced any accusations that he is dodging Aspinall by updating his Instagram profile photo, which now features a cartoon duck wearing the UFC belt.

Despite Jones' evasive attitude, Aspinall – after speaking to his UFC bosses – remains confident he will get a shot at the champion.

However, Jones is seemingly confident he will leave the 31-year-old waiting in the wings, insisting he has no interest in the potential title defense.

But if a mega-fight with Pereira does not materialize, the American will be forced to consider alternative options.

And so, barring a possible feud with the winner of Gane vs. Alexander Volkov at UFC 310, Aspinall happens to be the obvious and indeed most lucrative opponent for Jones.
