Jordan declares Napoli midfielder McTominay on track to becoming greatest Brit

The Scotland International has been excellent for Napoli after he was affiliated with Manchester United last summer.

Jordan said to The Sun: “I would say that Scott McTominay had much more impact in Italy than in my first season.

“He is much more popular than I ever was.

“I was able to get along well with the Milan fans, but it took me a little time to settle on the Italian game. Since his introduction, Napoli supporters have immediately brought to Scott.

“He did exceptionally well, in a team that consistently wins.

“They love him in Naples and I know how the Napolitani are, they are incredible fans, absolutely fanatic about their club and their heroes. In Naples they only support one team and that is Napoli.”

Ex-man United Center-Forward Jordan added: “I was really surprised United Let Scott during the summer.

“I don't know all the circumstances, but I thought he was doing well at United. But at Napoli he raised his game to a different level.

“His form is consistent, his front game is good, he scores goals and offers assists.

“He is the land focused. He is a player who plays with confidence and he works under a good coach in Antonio Conte.

“Napoli did very well to sign him – but Manchester United let him go very badly. The loss of United is Napoli's win.

“He was helped by having Gilmour next to him. When I have seen Billy play for Napoli, he did well and forced himself in the starting team.

“That is no surprise for me because he is a good player, and crucial for an Italian coach, he keeps the ball well.”
