Jordan Henderson will leave Ajax in the Dutch giants after just one and a half seasons, according to reports.
The former captain of Liverpool made the switch to Amsterdam, just a few months after his failed large money movement to the Saudi Pro League outfit al-Etifaq in the summer of 2023.
After he had trouble setting up Gulf, Henderson got the bracelet of the captain at Ajax in the midst of a challenging period for the side.
Just a year later, Henderson was chased by suggestions that he continued for the third time since leaving Anfield, with a transfer to Ligue 1 -side Monaco reportedly in the works.
The 35-year-old was supposed to have gone as far as a refusal to wear the bracelet in an attempt to act a movement, but Ajax Chiefs sniffs speculation that he would leave in January of this year with a definitive explanation shortly before the window was closed.
But six months later, according to the Times, Henderson will start looking for a new club.
According to the outlet, Henderson has chosen not to take the option to extend his contract until next season, and he will leave the Johan Cruyff Arena as a free agent.
The midfielder played 57 games for the Dutch side and scored his only goal for his team in his last performance, a 2-0 win against FC Twente on the last day of the season.
Henderson was ready to seal a second title profit with the bracelet of the captain in the Eredivisie, before a late collapse at the business end of the season, which eventually ended between competition leaders PSV Eindhoven.
But his versions in Amsterdam have been enough for the veteran to play his way in the plans of the English head coach Thomas Tuchel.
Henderson was omitted from the team under Gareth Southgate for the European championship last summer, and by interim manager Lee Carsley in the fall.
But Tuchel raised eyebrows in March when he mentioned Henderson in a surprising move for his first three Lions team.
Tuchel wanted to justify his decision in his opening conference and pointed to the character, personality and energy of the midfielder that he brings to the team. “
Henderson had previously made his last performance in the midst of a volley of anger and fan protests in 2023, shortly after the start of his short career in Saudi Arabia.
