Jorge Masvidal reveals his UFC return date is set as he accidentally leaks promotion’s ‘Magic’ plans for 2025

Former UFC star Jorge Masvidal left the UFC in 2023 after four straight losses and briefly entered the boxing world shortly after.

Jorge Masvidal rose to fame after scoring one of the most viral KOs in UFC history when he left Ben Askren completely unconscious within the first five seconds of their 2019 fight.

Later that year, 'Gamebred' became the inaugural UFC BMF champion when the doctor ruled out Nate Diaz in the third round due to cuts to his eye.

Jorge Masvidal reveals UFC return date has been set

After a hugely successful year, Masvidal was awarded a welterweight title shot on short notice against Kamaru Usman, marking the beginning of his downward spiral with the promotion.

After losing twice in a row to 'The Nigerian Nightmare', the 40-year-old went on to lose a huge grudge match against Colby Covington in what will go down as one of the greatest rivalries in UFC history.

Masvidal left the UFC to earn more money elsewhere, and earlier this year he rematched Diaz in the boxing ring in a co-promoted event with Real Fight Inc, losing again to the Stockton fighter.

Since then, the 40-year-old has put a lot of time into his promotion, Gamebred Promotions, and has organized several events this year.

Despite this, Masvidal has continuously hinted that he will return to the UFC next year, and has now revealed that he has received one-month confirmation for his return and that he has leaked the promotion's plan for a venue.

“I'll be back in the UFC next year in April, we don't have the opponent yet, hopefully we'll have the opponent in December and April's Miami card,” Masvidal said of Jake Shields AJJ.

The UFC has yet to announce any events from last March next year, but Masvidal seems confident they will return to 'The Magic City', Miami in April.

UFC fans are speculating whether Masvidal's feud with Leon Edwards will be settled

Someone else who leaked his return to the Octagon this past weekend is former 170-pound champion Leon Edwards.

'Rocky' unfortunately lost his welterweight title to Belal Muhammad in July at UFC 304, and he has been extremely quiet about his return to action since then.

Despite this, the promotion recently announced that they will return to the o2 Arena in London in March 2025 for the first time since 2023.

With that, fans began speculating who could potentially headline the event, with interim heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall reportedly out of the running as he pursues a title unification bout against Jon Jones.

Ranked lightweight Paddy 'The Baddy' Pimblett seemed like a potential headliner given his popularity on that side of the pond, but fans now have an answer as to who will headline the event in 'The Big Smoke'.

Last weekend, Edwards revealed during an interview with DAZN Boxing that he will return in March to headline the promotion's return to London.

With that, fans began speculating whether he might finally settle his feud with Masvidal after the two got involved in a brawl backstage at UFC London in 2019.

They were then booked to fight each other in 2021, but Masvidal withdrew from the fight as he opted for a fight against Covington instead.

It's unclear who 'Rocky' will be headlining against at the March 22 event, but given Masvidal's recent revelation, it's unlikely that feud will be settled anytime soon.
