Jose Mourinho sues Galatasaray for about £ 42,000 about “moral damage”, Fenerbahce has confirmed.
Galatasaray accused Mourinho of making “racist statements” after their scoreless draw on Monday and said they were planning to start criminal procedures.
In his comments after the game, Mourinho said that the Galatasaray bank “jumped as monkeys” and that the luminaire was better to be referred to by the Slovenian Slavko Vincic instead of Turkish officials after both clubs had asked for a foreign agreement.
Mourinho was banned for four games and was fined £ 35,000. Fenerbahce has confirmed to Sky Sports News that they have appealed the ban.
After the accusations of racism, the former Chelsea striker Didier Drogba was to defend Mourinho to various players who defend his old boss and 'Dad' Mourinho.
Former Ivory Coast International Drogba – who played for Galatasaray in 2013-14 between two different spells at Stamford Bridge, both of whom worked under Mourinho – used a social media post to defend Mourinho, which indicated that the Portuguese coach had been a father figure for him during his career.
Fenerbahce had issued their own statement on Tuesday and said that Mourinho's comments were “completely from the context and deliberately distorted” after the game, and could not be “in any way associated with racism”.
