Fenerbahce has launched a passionate defense of Jose Mourinho and accused Galatasaray boss Okan Buruk “to throw himself on the floor as if he had been shot” after the bust of the couple.
Mourinho seemed to squeeze Buruk's nose after the 2-1 defeat of Fenerbahce, where the Galatasaray boss fell on the field and kept his face in his hands.
Buruk lay on his back when the former Chelsea and Manchester United -Baas Mourinho were towed away from the remarkable flash point.
Responding to the arrival together, Fenerbahce has issued a statement that read:
“Okan Buruk, who approached our technical director, Jose Mourinho, who met yesterday after the game with the referees, under the pretext to shake their hands, our technical director with hand gestures and explanations caused the guts to make disrespectful areas after crossing the police line.
“After our technical director had touched his nose in response to these provocations, the person in question threw himself on the ground in an exaggerated way.
“The disrespectful words and actions of this person, who threw himself professionally on the ground as if he had been 'shot' as a continuation of his planned and excessive provocations, are included with images.
“The meaninglessness and acting of a person jumping to the ground and wriggles for a few seconds when his nose is touched is known to the entire audience.
“It is clear that the images of this person who threw himself on the ground from his football career were continued in his career as a coach and that this attitude is a characteristic attitude.
“It is clear that the evaluation of the ugly provocations and what happened afterwards should not be one-sided, but must be based on a cause-and-effect relationship.”
Sky Sports News has contacted Galatasaray for comment.
Mourinho had just seen his side crash from the quarterfinals of the Turkish cup after Victor Osimhen Galatasaray sent on his way to victory with a brace in the first half.
Sebastian Szymanski pulled one back for the hosts in the break, but Buruk's side saw the poorly slumed victory, in which three players were sent in a stop time.
Mert Hakan Yandas was fired for Fenerbahce, with Kerem Demirbay and Baris Alper Yilmaz who also saw red for the visitors.
After the match, Galatasaray tweeted a photo of Buruk and Mourinho biting: “You shouldn't attack, you should digest!” The Turkish club also placed a cartoon video that mocked Mourinho with the caption: “Galatasaray drives you crazy.”
Buruk: Mourinho squeezed my nose
Galatasaray Buruk later said that Mourinho took his face in the aftermath of their Turkish Cup victory in Fenerbahce was “no problem”, but added that it was “not very nice”.
“There was nothing between me [and Mourinho]”Said Buruk in quotes reported on the club website.
“I just congratulated the referees. He had also gone to congratulate the referees. As I went on, he squeezed my nose from behind. It was a slight scratch.
“It is not very nice or stylish. We want to stay in the game. We mainly want and expect that the behavior of the technical staff here is more correct.
“I will not overdo this, but it is not very stylish. We should have shaked each other's hands before the competition. Unfortunately we could not experience that. It's no problem. I won't overdo this.”
Mourinho's Fenerbahce are six points behind Galatasaray in the Super Lig with a competition in hand.
