Jose Mourinho wants to see Inter Milan landing the Champions League – but only because the Treble is not offered after they shot in the Serie A and the Coppa Italia
Jose Mourinho revealed that he is happy that former side Inter Milan is not on track to pursue his performance and win the Treble in the Champions League final this weekend. The special claimed: “The Treble is mine!”
The Fenerbahce boss has twice claimed the European Cup, most recently with Inter in 2010. They slaughtered Bayern Munich in the Bernabeu to complete an unprecedented Treble and to remain the only Italian side in history to achieve performance.
Mourinho joked that he is happy that the record will continue to tact interlike in the semi-final of Coppa Italia against AC Milan, while they missed the Serie A title when Napoli looked them on the last day. Highly rated boss Simone Inzaghi can still land the largest prize in Europe this weekend.
In Inter, Barcelona and Bayern has already beaten for their collision with PSG in the Allianz Arena. The Serie A -side is in their second final in three seasons that are defeated by Manchester City two years ago, but Mourinho supports them to go better.
He told Sky Sports: “I will be very naughty, but very honest. I was afraid they could win the Treble because I didn't want them to win the Treble – the treble is mine!
“But now they have lost the competition and the Italian cup, I would love to win the Champions League. But of course Luis Enrique is doing great in Paris. He has transformed the team, they lost their no. 1 (Kylian Mbappe), but they rebuild them in a fantastic way, I am also happy for him.”
PSG wants to win the tournament for the first time. Their only other last appearance came in 2020, when they were defeated by Bayern in Lisbon. The Parisians are narrow favorites to lift the trophy when the two teams meet in Germany on Saturday evening.
Inzaghi has enjoyed an impressive period with Inter, won the competition and two Coppa Italias and believes that they earn their last place completely. He said to UEFA: “We had a big few years and two Champions League final is the fruit of our work, reward for the hard work and sacrifice that everyone has done. We all share the performance – our players, the club as a whole and, of course, our great fans.”
The Inter Boss believes that they justified extra time when they were closely defeated through the city two years ago, but they are better off for the experience. “That experience was important-our performance in such a high-level game helped us to learn a lot about what we are capable of,” he said.
