Jose Mourinho: Racism accusations backfired – Galatasaray didn’t know my African connections

Jose Mourinho spoke for the first time, exclusively with Sky Sports News, about the accusation of racism against him.

Despite the furore, he says he felt calm and relaxed because he feels the allegation made by Galatasaray after the Istanbul Derby with his Fenerbahce side, chased.

“They were not smart in the way they attacked me because they didn't know my past,” he says.

“They did not know my connections with Africa, with African people and African players and African charities.

“So instead of going against me, I think it went Bemeranged and against them.

“Everyone knows who I am as a person. Everyone knows my bad qualities, but that is not one of my bad qualities. Exactly the opposite!

“The most important thing is that I know who I am, and the attack that racism accused was a bad choice.”

At the accusation he says: “I just felt: how could they go so low?”

Mourinho, in the press conference after the 0-0-drawing game last Monday, accused the Galatasaray bank of “Jumping as Monkeys” to try to get his 19-year-old central defender Yusuf Akcicek early in the game.

He referred to head coach Okan Buruk.

I ask if Mourinho is afterwards regretted the words he used. Was the choice of word awkward?

Mourinho was silent for a moment and thought. Then he shook his head because he found Buruk's Touchline antics difficult to take.

“I can't fall to his level,” he says.

'Sometimes I do that and I wonder:' Why did you do it Jose? Why did you fall at that level? “”

He thinks a little more. Then add: “It was just sad.”

He is grateful for the support he has had from people he knows, and people he doesn't do.

“Probably even people who don't like me was the support there,” he says.

'I thank the people who had no problem speaking [out]Especially my boys, my former players. They were a very important voice. “

He of course means that Chelsea title winners Didier Drogba and Michael Essien, who went to social media to support their former manager.

As a result, some Galatasaray fans took to the streets to burn Drogba shirts. He played 53 times for the club.

On the subject of shirts, Mourinho has a picture of the reason why his ban of four games was reduced so quickly to two games.

Social media played a role.

“On the day my [four-match] Ban was decided that it will be in public eyes that the head of the disciplinary committee is celebrating among friends with a Galatasaray shirt, “he says.

“Only here can you understand the dimension of it.”

Sky Sports News has contacted the Turkish football federation for comment.

So the domestic ban of Mourinho is served. He can return to the domestic dugout.

He would always be in the technical area in Europe.

If the Fenerbahce makes the Europa League last year by beating Rangers, this could be a Jose Mourinho Revenge Tour.

Roma maybe in the quarterfinals. Manchester United in the semi -final, maybe. Spurs in the final, maybe.

However, Mourinho doesn't think so.

“I never feel revenge in my mind. I never have that feeling, because when I leave a club, I prefer to remember my good times in the club,” he adds.

One of those clubs is of course Manchester United.

So what makes Mourinho of the ins and outs at Old Trafford?

On Ruben Amorim, whom he helped as a young coach, he says they have not spoken since he has taken on the United Baan, apart from Christmas greetings.

But he doesn't enjoy seeing him struggling.

“He is a good child. Always very respectful for me. We had a good relationship for a few years. He knows I wish him the best. “

And on Sir Jim Ratcliffe, and those job losses?

“To be honest, I don't know much about what is happening,” he says.

“I know Sir Jim Ratcliffe. I am not saying that we are big friends, but we have a good relationship. I know him well. He invited me a few times in his house. I see him as a good person and a great businessman.

'Of course I feel for some people I know [losing their jobs]But hopefully it will go in the right direction. “
